WKA Evens Playing Field For Divisional And National Series 10.17.06 – In order to put all divisional racers on an even playing field with the nationals, beginning in 2007 WKA Divisional Series* will be required to follow the same spec tire rules that is implemented at the national level.
Over the years the spec tire rule for nationals has been optional for the WKA Divisional Series. In order to promote the progression of drivers moving from the divisional level to the national level, the transition needs to be kept at a minimum. Tires will not have to be new but they will need to be the same compounds that are called out for the national program, thus eliminating the transition of different tires and compounds.
Tire prep rules at the divisional level will remain optional for 2007 although our hope is by 2008 all divisional series will be prepared to institute the tire prep program as well. WKA will continue to use the JTR Eagle as its tool to check for tire prep at all Speedway and Gold Cup National events in the 2007 racing season.
WKA must continually make decisions that are best for its membership. We hope you realize this decision is done to simplify our program and create as much consistency as possible for our members.
We appreciate the support of our divisional series and directors as well as the racers that makes all this possible.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The above was posted on the WKA website...
for those of you who haven't seen... jr. classes are Vegas, and adult classes are Maxxis ht 5's........

There has been some questions raised in the past few days concerning VDKA and our tire rule. It was decided, by the VDKA Board of Directors, to remain with the same tire rule as 2006...i.e., HT-3's, cutting and prep still permitted, NO OPEN FLAMES AT THE TRACK. We are still in some discussion with all the Champ kart drivers as to which tire, Maxxis or Burris, they would prefer for 2007 and we are gathering information from them thru phone calls and emails. I hope this clears up alot of the questions, but if you would like more info, please email us at VAKARTING@AOL.COM. I will do my best to help you! PETE GUTHRIE Treansurer VDKA

Jamie that sounds good on paper but you know as well as i do with cut tires and preps a stock ht5 and a prepped and cut one are no where near the same. If they want us to be the same as nationals then run no prep and no cuts, or let us run the 3 or 5 how we want them. jmo Danny

how many people run the nationals? how many people run the VDKA? if we don't run the wka rules for the divisional does that mean we have to come up with our own insurance policy? between switching to animal motors for kids or adults and now you have to switch tire makes/compounds..... 2 animal motors plus a minimum of 2 sets of tires is about ....$3200? bad thing is you can't even get any money for your existing flatheads.... to run the delaware states for kids on Vegas you would need atleast 2 sets.... for the states running ht5 for adults you would need atleast 3 sets..... the logical answer is to do the same thing as VDKA... they average more karts than any other series for a reason.... last year delaware was represented in the vdka series by about 10-15 entries per race depending on the location, other than Daytona i don't know anyone who went to any national....... i think there are advantages either way though.... as long as we can still cut it's all good.... i have a $5000 tire machine in my garage that i would like to be able to use for a few more years and i'm sure the other people around here with one would agree... -jlm

The TN State Series tire rule for 2007 will remain the same as last year. HT-3 for Flat Karts and SS-55 for Champs. You may prep and cut but NO TORCHES. This was voted on at the last State Race by the TN State Board. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The NC Dirt Series have decided to stay with the same tire rules they had in 2006, except for the champ karts, that will also be on any Maxxis tire compound. This was decided by the competion committee at the last race and anounced at the drivers meeting. We will also be moving Jamie Russell into the Race Director's position. I will still be the President and General Manager. Any questions can be directed to our web site, ncdirtseries.com.
Thanks, Ronnie Miller

I think if we are a wka track we should run there rules, NOT VDKA, NC, TN OR ANY OTHER STATE. The last time I checked we were Delaware. The club could not afford there own insurance. jmo

i wasn't sure if you could run with wka pit passes and stuff even if you are not a divisional..... maybe the president or vice president would find out?? whoever they are...?? maybe with all the rule changes there should be a competition committee to decide... 5 people... someone from oakley, bbr, taz, hp, mopower...?? they would be the people that could represent their customers/club the best.... or even the current board memebers could decide.... from the business side of it... stocking 2 seperate compound/makes would be quite expensive...

It is a new year you are making choices for, let the new pres make those choices. Remember what we went through this past year new people with there choices already made for them. We had the choice this year of 5s or 3s that is two different compounds you had to stock.

hts, how many friday night features or state races were won on ht5s.... stocking only one compound this past year was a very, very safe bet......
kartdadO4, how much for those used tires? =). p.s. new tires always faster..... maybe... unless you are talking about vegas....
i agree most will get new tires reguarless...guess we will just have to wait and see what the higher powers decide....
