Can someone fill me in on why the 38 Special was sent to the pits Sunday? I hope not because the safety crew touched his car as they are the ones that waved him over.

THE TRACK RULE IS YOU ARE ALLOWED TO PULL INTO THE INFIELD UNDER CAUTION TO A OFFICIAL,SAFETY WORKER,OR GET OUT YOUR SELF AND CHECK OVER THE CAR.KENNEY UNFORTUNATELY WAS STILL ON THE TRACK.THE GUY WHO RAN OUT TO HIM ACTUALLY WAS SOMEONE WHO HAS WORKED AND HELPED OUT ON HIS CARS FOR YEARS.I KNOW THE TRACK OFFICIALS WERE TELLING KENNY NOT TO STOP.SO DON'T BE MAD AT THE TRACK ,THE GUY WHO HAD SOME PERSONAL INTEREST IN THE CAR IS THE ONE WHO OWES KENNY AND HIS FANS AN APOLOGY.

ALSO THE GUY WHO CAME OVER, DID NOT STAY AROUND HARDLY 5 MINUTES AFTER THE RACES.IF HE KNEW HE DID NOTHING WRONG HE WOULD HAVE STAYED AROUND LONGER TO EXPLAIN HIMSELF.HIS PERSONAL INTERSET COST KENNY A POSSIBLE WIN,SHAME ON HIM.

The issue is not the person working on the car? It was that he was still on the TRACK.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware that the track was telling the 38 to not stop. As a past driver if a safety crew member had waved me over I would have certainly stopped. Of course we didn't have radios in the cars back then. That was a shame though cause the 38 seemed to have them covered if indeed the fender didn't cut the tire down later.

IN THE PAST I DO NOT REMEMBER A SAFETY WORKER GOING OUT TO A CAR ON THE TRACK AND PULLING AWAY SHEET METAL FROM THE CAR.THE SAFETY WORKERS HAVE NO REASON TO GET INVOLVED UNLESS THERE IS A HAZZARD LIKE A CAR ON FIRE.I BELIVE HE DID BECAUSE OF HIS PERSONAL INTEREST,I WAS REALLY WANTING KENNY TO WIN AND THAT FOOL COST HIM.

I believe that I have seen the safety crew pull hanging sheet metal or parts from cars before. Basically to keep a piece that looked like it was going to fall off from creating a safety hazard but not sure of he rule as I haven't drove in many years. Still, like I said as a driver you are strapped in and a safetycrew member waves you over you pretty much have to obey and how was the driver to know the guy was going to touch his car and not just look for safety reasons. I mean he was leading the pack and if he cut a tire it would-could have wiped out a lot of cars. Very unfortunate how it turned out anyway. And going to the back meant the 38 was done as there was no passing going on.

It was said that the safety crew did not call him over to stop and the tower was telling him not to stop on the radio. Plus he was still on the track. Two things against him brought on by himself. It was a shame because KP was doing a great job and it would have been nice for a DE guy to win. I'm sure his fans were disappointed, and did not understand what happened. This is an area where they can read what happened to understand the call made.
