;Di think big motors at delmar should be band because every week you know who will win i think it should be dirt rules and we should add a small blockclass and let drivers race two classes so it adds more excitement to the races and really see who the better racers are . Any body can win with a big motor because all you are doing is pulling them on starts and down the sraight aways. we all want to see close racing and who the better drivers are. if you want to run a big motor then make a special class for that. we all know that the people with the big motors are going to win and shows they can pay whatever it takes to have the bigger motor to win. If delmar had dirt rules and ran slm,big block, small block, crate late, crate mod every week and still had special shows like mod lites, vintage, little lincions, and sprint cars. There would be more people in the stands and more cars in the pits. I think it would bring in more money and different drivers from other tracks to come. So lets hear what everyone has to say about it but my oppinion i think would be great.

if they go to dirt rules then its still going to be the same people winning. it takes a hell of a lot more money to make a fast dirt legal motor then it does to make a fast big motor. so basically those same people, who have money will just outspend everyone else

if we went to dirt rules then we would have more people from other tracks to come race. but with the dirt rules you can only do so much to that motor with a big motor you can spend as much as u want. with a 467 people can build one and be in the race still. but people with 540- 560 they pull away from everyone on the start. all im saying lets see the tallent in racing not the drag race then coast in the corners all we want is som good hard racing not just the top 4 walk away from the field because week after week we know who the top 4 will be

im not saying you cant run big motors but put them in there own class and let the people that want to race two classes race them i think there would be bigger croweds there if you ran big block small block super lates crates and then run special races. delmar needs to get rid of the slide for 5 and mod lites because not many stay for slide for 5 and the track is WAY to big for the mod lites and no one is in the stands when they race or if there the last race people leave lets take them classes out and put classes in people want to watch and that will fill the stands

I say go to a 358 spec head class for the modifieds. The racing in the big block division has been aweful for years. The real issue here is teching the motors. I don't that is something Charlie is interested in doing.

if charlie wanted to make more money he would go dirt rules and add a small block class because it would bring cars from different states and more fans in the stands

Kinda late reply but just saw it. I agree with a motor rule or sanctioning body. With a sanctioning body/or rules to enforce comes the headache of tech. and cost associated with it ect. But I also think that more cars would show helping ease the cost associated. The H.J. & Jamie show is starting to get kinda boring. Some would argue that it's not all motor thats gets checkers but at the end of the day I'd rather have a can't pay the mortage this month so big motor than a "regular motor" with a good handling car most nights. We are in between late model and modified country if done carefully I'm sure Delaware could draw more big name racers for more than just special events.

To draw big name racers, one has to make it worthwhile for them. Towing's spensive these days with the price of fuel.
As far as big motors go, I'm sure some folks remember the beast that Stormin' Normin blew up years ago while driving for Tommy Harrington. Was for an open show or something, back around the mid 90's. Displacement doesn't always win races, you gotta hook that HP down the the track somehow...

I agree with you as well, aint no good if you cant get it to the track. I recall the DIRT days and the stands were packed, companies handin out freebies, and BIG name drivers puttin on a hell of a show. Now I just read about them on SJDR and hope to see a few at the champ show. I guess I think the more work that comes along with a sanct. body or motor rule, would most likely pay off, and be a good move fot the track, but it is what it is and be thankful they haven't closed down like many other tracks on the east coast.

yea the money would bring the drivers but why go to a track when you already know who will win because they have a lot more motor than you got most of the big named people dont have big motors like the two we have at delmar. but go and look at the results of the winter nationals and see just how good they are with out there big motors. big motors can make up for the lack of talent. real talent is same motor size and hard racing.......... ;D
