Well the end of another Winter national at East Bay in Tampa Florida lots of exciting side by side action and as always one youngster catches my eye, with impressive driving. This time I have to pick Young Dillon Evens of Millboro De . Driving close to one of the oldest cars in the TUSA field . Dillon was consistently up front in heat races and the A mains . On Thursday Dillon's heat race consisted of some of the best seasoned drivers on the circuit most with 2010 equipment But Evens didn't care diving his car like he is the best. The heat race consisted of 8 cars and only 3 making the transfer spot. Evens ran a strong race against Ken Meadows and Steve White holding his own to make the transfer spot, very impressive. Dillon also followed that up with a 7th place Finnish in the A main in a 26 car field . Then night 2 Friday, Dillon wasn't satisfied with 3rd qualifying spot on Thursday he was out there wheel to wheel with another 8 car field racing as hard as he can and a surprising hard last lap pass at the Finnish line. Evens TOOK the WIN for his heat race. Followed up with another top 10 in the A main dogging several crashes. With the 2 top ten spots Thur and Fri Dillon earned a guarantied starting spot for the A main on Saturday . I must say some people who have won the past championship's there and A Main winners did not accomplish this . Day 3 Saturday Evens could be at ease watching several other drivers franticly trying to qualify for the A-main . After the A Main was over Dillon once again found himself in the top 10. All of this being impressive for the simple fact that I believe Dillon Evens is the youngest in the TUSA race at 13 yrs old driving one of the oldest cars,Qualifying in heat races NOT Thur the treacherous Consi ( B Main ) and earning 3 top 10 finishes in three night's against several 2010 cars and 58 seasoned drivers from across the country as far away as Arizona ! KEEP IT UP GREAT JOB !!!!!!!

Not to nuts on Brandon but his accomplishments are not that stellar. Brandon has probably ran over 100 or more races. Also most recently ran a full or at least most of a season racing " FULL " sized CRATE MODIFIED'S at Delmar only to go BACK ! to a "JR" class ? Were all the ones who showed up had just moved up from the "ROOKIE CLASS" and have about " 20 " or LESS races under their belt . Anything less than a clean sweep would be embarrassing . Again this is not an insult just my opinion Brandon Stugis is a good race car driver .

I thought Zac Weller was going to grab a win in one of those races, he made Sturgis work for it, but car problems kept him back most of the weekend. This kid is gonna be a threat in the upcoming years, you watch!

This kid is gonna be a threat in the upcoming years, you watch! Yes Zac is good as you can read in my older post but he dose have Dillon's old car witch was consistently more or slightly less than 1 sec FASTER than all the other 600 when Dillon drove it. and he won about 14 races one year and championship also Dillon raced that car in Fla so he might have a slight advantage over some of the other JR but he "CAN HANDLE the power " at age 10 in my opinion Zac won 2 out of 3 races and had handaling problems in 1 Race. Great Job

itsmydime10....Love to read your post. You are factual and on the money. Dillon Evans did a stellar job His performance outstanding. He is such a humble little dude. I dont think he knows how much talent he has. You are right on about Sturgis. Great driver but would have much rather seen him perform with the big boys not the less experience. He should have made the sweep. Frankly he should have been in the other class and not the one he raced in. This was the topic of discussion at the track.

"he won about 14 races one year and championship also Dillon raced that car in Fla so he might have a slight advantage over some of the other JR" Not sure what you mean here dime, how would Zac have an advantage over more experienced drivers like Sturgis or Megee(last year)? did you mean the car has some kind of advantage over the other cars? if so, like what? thanks

I dont want to speak for its my dime but I took the statement as dylan was in that car for several years and that team takes notes like they are in a college classroom. If this information was shared like what works and doesnt work for that particular car this could be viewed as an advantage. This is not a negative thing I hope team 80 helped out a new comer to the race family. That is what racing is all about isnt it? Making friends and watching these young kids learning and enjoying themselves. Great job Dylan and Zac Good luck to you this year.

dime, there is already a post with dillons name in the racing discussions section, this post is named "Eastbay raceway 2010" so i didn't realize it too belonged to dillon. the question was just a question, after you said zac was good, you said BUT he does have dillons old car, i didn't want this comment to take anything away from the 10 yr olds skills by saying, "yeah but". Thats all, geez, you need to relax and not get so defensive. I appreciate that you gave dillon kudos, on two different sections, and thats great, he deserves it, but i don't want to see zac get stepped on in the process of building up dillon. you probably didnt even realize it sounded like that, i wasnt being argumentative in that question. lets face it though, if he won 14 races plus championship and had some kind of advantage that others didnt, that would have been a pretty big deal. what tell the truth posted does make sense, its probably what you meant. frankly, ive always liked reading your posts, please continue with your point of view, i know many look forward to it. thanks.

Since dilon already has his post I'm going to go ahead and give zac weller the credit he deserves. This little guy is only 10 yrs old, he can barely see over the stering wheel, but he can give the rest of the field, regardless of their experience, a run for their money! When you see him out there it looks like he has been driving for a long time. I agree that this little guy is gonna be tough competition in the coming years, regardless of what he's driving. He's one of those drivers that just has the talent. Best of luck zac!

I'm so glad that Eastbay 2010 was put on pay-per-view this year. We had family at home watching the races "live" and were able to share in the excitement. I also want to congratulate Landis Musser on his awesome win that Thursday nite! The family said that Landis did an interview that next day in the pits and it was shown a couple of times on Friday nite during intermission. They said he did real well and came across as the great guy that he is. He will bring alot to the track this year. Also, great job to the #1 Zack Weller, that little guy packs a big punch! I would encourage everyone to let Eastbay know we want that pay per view again next year. Hopefully they did well with it and it will continue.
