Robert Leroy Tester Sr. Services for Robert Leroy Tester Sr., of Thomasville, are 11 a.m. Saturday at Dawson Street United Methodist Church. Rev John Stephens, Rev. Ramon Hernandez and Rev. Allen Hartsfield will officiate and interment is in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers are Jim Taylor, Don Hicks, Charles McPhearson, Gary Cooper and Doug Zima. Mr. Tester was born Dec. 5, 1933, in Baltimore, Md., to parents Robert Lee Tester and Florence Lowan Dillard, both deceased. He married Gertrude Overby Tester, who survives, on Nov. 10, 1974, in Maryland. Mr. Tester was a member of Dawson Street United Methodist Church. He participated in Golden K Kiwanis Club and was active in Lifeline Ministries and Shoe Buck Ministry in Mexico. He was a retired IBEW Local 24 Union electrician. Mr. Tester died Jan. 1, 2009, at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Survivors include his wife; children, Perry Hamilton Jr., Bobby Tester Jr., Sharon Conley, Shawn Wilhelm, Sherry Tester and Joe Ford; grandchildren, Larin Coe, Andrea Honesto, Charon Overstreet, Daniel Rathell, Michelle Rathell and Perry Hamilton Jr.; great-grandchildren, Cassity Overstreet, Isabel Honesto and Abigail Honesto; brother, Ernest Tester Sr.; and, sister, Joy Zima. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dawson Street United Methodist Church, 1132 N. Dawson St., Thomasville, GA 31792. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. — Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home
