I posted this under the 604 haters thread but figured it may get more notice under it's own.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anybody that ran Potomac last year or would be thinking about it this year send me an e mail. They have a new promotor. The Hollidges are now running the track and are looking for input on rules for next years crate class. They are looking at as many as 12 shows. My e mail is jlimler@msn.com or you can just call Denise at the track. She wanted me to get some input from some of the DIS guys about there views on letting the 604's run and the 602's getting the weight breaks like FASTRAK alows. (sp?) They want to get rules out ASAP to give more guys over here time to decide what they want to do.

You can have all the classes you want ,but if don't pay your admission and travel expenses to start they won't come. Rich can't keep getting richer and think the poor will keep coming to a track that won't help support the racers that are willing to go forth to do what they love and keep going in a hole. Promote the races like you are trying and fill the stands so racing will be back where it belongs. Thank you.

I'm not the smartest guy in the world but I have no idea what that means or how it relates to my post. I'm not involved in promoting the track. I just try and promote crate racing. If your looking to make enough money by showing up to pay for your crew to get in and what travel costs you might want to look into something different to do. I would love for that to be possible but don't see that happening at any track that runs weekly. When fuel was at it's peak this summer we spent over 200.00 a week to get to DIS and race. That didn't even include the wear on the car or tires. I'd have to win every week to break even. Until someone figures out how to fill stands at these tracks it will be what it is. I just don't see things changing in these tough times we are in.

I am all four crates but not for dis rules . one problem I have is buying snookies shocks for a price way more then out of any book. i also feel the tires are a little high and tech sucks. I would like fastrack rules with open tires. also if crates are going to work you need a top tech crew. I will fully support crates at potomac if we can get a good pay out every week and have a good tech.

Payout will be based on # of cars I'm sure. I'd like to see FASTRAK just for the tech. I doubt you will see FASTRAK sanctioning at least for this year but hopefully on down the road. Hopefully they will get together and talk in a few weeks at the PRI show in Orlando. Please call the track and let Denise know how you fell about rules and tech. Track # is 301-884-4200

I think they paid 200.00 to win and 50.00 to start. With Rick Jones gone as promotor that could change. Bottom line is the class has to pay for itself I would think until they get the place turned around to what it was before Jones took over back in 2003. More cars, more money.

if I pay 200 to get my crew in then just I pay for the winner and if you have 15 cars thats 3 grand and they are only going to pay out 200? they arent a regular crate track so they have to have something that attracts racers from different area's. people dont want to drive 2-3 hours for 200 bucks. and i think a lot of crate guys are down from this way so you need something to bring them up towards that way and also I would make sure that there schedule does not conflict with g town races because g town said there are going to be some races next year also yesterday at the drivers meetings

Back gate racing is a Promoter that makes money off every ones desire to race.No full fields ,hardly any people in the stands .Raising the price to get in the pits and a entry fee payed parking spots in the pits, buy their fuel and shocks, tires have no tech.Paying 1970's purses.Telling you get more cars more fans and i'll pay more.It has not happened in 30 years. So what does a promoter do open the gate pay insurance cleanup take your money.

I understand your point but don't really understand what it has to do with this thread. You could look at every track in the area and say the same thing. DIS?? Hagerstown, limiteds which spend over 15 grand for there motors run for 500.00 to win and not much to start. Winchester, the payout is worse than Hagerstown. Won't even talk about what those tracks pay to there street stocks and there spending up to 11,000.00 for a top motor. Like I said before I'm not involved with Potomac at all except for trying to get crates more races. I have no idea what the new promotor ( Greg Gunter form the Winchester area )will end up being like. Also saw where Racechaser posted this on another board www.4m.net/showthread.php?t=88100

what does fastrak having to do with running at potomac. they didnt even have a full car count and now your talking about fastrack maybe coming there in 2010 it could happen I guess but seems very doubtful and if you are insisiting that dis will go to fastrak rules I dont see that ever happening.

What are you talking about? Where did I say anything about Delaware and FASTRAK? I mentioned FASTRAK and Potomac but only as a basis for a rules package. I mentioned that "I" would like to see FASTRAK in the future. Does that clear it up for you?
As far as FASTRAK sanctioning a track I think they would take any track they could get.
In the end I'm done with this. All I tried to do was get some input for the track on rules people would like. By some of the e mails and posts on boards that I have gotten I would never want to promote a track. I have a new found appreciation for the BS the promoters have to deal with.

you asked a question and didnt like the answers. if they are so concerned then they should have someone asking the questions not just someone who runs @ the track. And as far as where fastrak came from you said I would like to see the track get Fastrak sanctioned, my reply to that was they cant even get a full field of cars now.so thats where the fastrak deal came from. and as far as tech goes I understand what you are saying about tech. but it doesnt matter how great the tech is people that run in the back are still going to be pissed off and pregnant dog and say that everyone in front of them is cheating.so you will never make everyone happy no matter what you do as far as tech.
I think if they got a decent purse that in itself would attract more cars.

From what I was told they tried to contact everyone who ran there last year. Don't know what the results were. Also I see that FASTRAK has a new Mid Atlantic region. Not that any local tracks have signed up with them but I guess there looking for tracks.

I got a set of rules today. Same as DIS with a few exceptions. You can run any non adjustable steel body shock. You can run a 604 but you gotta weigh 2550 like they did at Bridgeport. Tires are AR 44 and 48 like DIS or Hoosier Spec 21's? They said the rules will be posted soon on the site but they are having some kind of computer problem. I thought they may take some weight off the cars to make people want to run the 604 but I guess the input they got was to keep the weight the same as DIS so you wouldn't have to change your car all around to run both tracks. Guess we will see what happens.

Don't know about either. I do know I was told the back gate would be cheaper than in years past. I think they are so busy fixing up the things that Rick Jones let go to hell they have not got a handle on everything yet. Call Denise. Her # is on the site. She's friendly enough, I'm sure she would give you an answer.
