In the interest of permitting as many competitors as possible to race for the national championship and due to the diversity of track rules and inconsistent class titles, a Competition Committee was formed to establish the rules for this event. The rules for this event are set forth below. Every effort has been made to accommodate as many cars as possible, using weight corrections to keep the competition as equal as possible.

RULES:
CAR:
Any rear wheel drive, American made 2 or 4 door sedans made after 1960.
100” wheel base minimum. Must weigh 2800 pounds plus adders with driver after race.
BODY:
No weight penalty for stock body with after market front nose.
Aftermarket body add 20 pounds
Rear must have 8”cover. Must be securely fastened to both quarter panels and the deck lid.
Maximum spoiler height 8” (measured vertical from deck) and must attach to the rear deck lid.
No outlaw spoilers. Rudder type supports allowed in front of spoiler – not exceeding 19 inches.
Front and Rear bumpers may be fabricated.
Rub rails must be flush with body and ends tied into frame.
Ballast must be painted white, with car number and securely attached to car.
Fire wall must remain in stock location, may be fabricated metal and must be completely sealed.
Firewall not stock shape or in stock location add 20 pounds.
Floor pan must be metal and cover from front firewall to rear seat.
No boxing in of drivers’ compartment.
Boxed in drivers’ compartment add 10 pounds.
FRAME:
Stock reinforced chassis.
May be tubed from center of rear end back.
NO tube frames – this means round, square or rectangular tubes!
Unibodied cars must have front and rear frame tied together on both sides.
SUSPENSION:
No weight penalty for stock components and in stock location.
No penalty for:
Wedge bolts on front or rear.
After market OEM mounts in stock location.
Rear sway bar.
After market springs with 4.5” minimum diameter.
Leaf spring cars may use lowering blocks.
If you modify or change any other suspension components in any way you must add 40 pounds.
Any or all of the following changes are permitted:
After market upper control arm.
After market upper A-frame.
Hiem joints on sway bar.
Shocks may be moved.
After market spring buckets.
Straight panhard bar.
After market tie rods and center link
Leaf spring sliders/ shackles
No coil over or adjustable racing shocks.
No hydraulic or mechanical jacking devices
No after market 3 or 4 link.
No J-bars.
One shock per wheel.
Stock lower A-Frame in stock location.
BRAKES:
Must be operable on all 4 wheels.
Brake proportioning valves and dual master cylinders allowed.
No adjustable devices within the driver reach.
Brake adjustment device within drivers reach, add 10 pounds.
Any OEM spindle, rotor, brake pad with single piston caliper allowed.
Any caliper with more than 1 piston, add 30 pounds.
MOTOR:
May run 604 crate motor with 2 barrel carburetor.
May run 602 crate motor with any 2 or 4 barrel carburetor - deduct 75 pounds.
No weight penalty for stock location.
Set back allowed – add 20 pounds.
GM #1 plug aligned with center of ball joint (Ford or Chrysler may set back to front of head).
After market motor mounts allowed.
Max: 365 cubic inches.
366 to 400 cubic inches must add 50 pounds.
401 to 435 cubic inches must add 100 pounds.
Cubic inch must be displayed on the right front fender.
Block must be OEM production – product of the manufacturer.
After market block that is heavier than OEM block permitted.
No aluminum blocks.
No SVO blocks allowed.
Stock exhaust manifold.
Any after market headers add 10 pounds.
Blocks may be deburred and polished internally. No lightening allowed.
After market starter permitted in stock location.
After market radiators allowed.
Any oil pan or wet pump allowed.
Any water pump allowed.
Any pulleys allowed.
Oil coolers allowed.
After market power steering pumps allowed.
Crankshaft:
Any stock stroke crankshaft permitted - 47 pounds minimum weight.
Any harmonic balancer allowed.
CAM:
Any stock solid or hydraulic lifter cam permitted.
Roller or mushroom lifter cam - add 75 pounds.
No roller cam bushings allowed.
May bush lifter bore – must remain OEM diameter.
No timing belts or gear driven – must be single or double chain driven.
Must be standard rotation.
PISTONS:
No weight penalty for any flat top piston with 3 rings in place.
Dome pistons – add 25 pounds.
Clearance for valve reliefs may be cut in piston.
Stock diameter steel piston pins only. Pins may be floated.
Any stock or after market steel connecting rod with maximum length of 6”.
CYLINDER HEADS:
No aluminum heads.
Heads must be OEM stock.
May be angle milled. ½” match porting allowed.
GM OEM vortex heads must have casting numbers 062 or 906, Dart # 10320010, or World Products #011250.
Chevy may use the 492 casting. World Products castings #4361 or #1-052
Ford may use the steel GT-40, Ford Racing Sportsman # M-6049-N-351, World Products #053040, Australian Cleveland or World Products Windsor Jr. #1-056 head.
Non-stock 23 degree heads (or those not listed above) must add 50 pounds.
CARBURETOR:
No homemade or dominator carburetors allowed.
Any 2 or 4 barrel carburetor (750 cfm max).
1 adapter plate, maximum 1.25” thick.
2 gaskets maximum (0.065” max per gasket).
2 return springs mandatory.
Air cleaner must use solid metal top & bottom.
Must run gasoline.
Intake:
Any intake manifold allowed.
May be angle milled. ½” match porting allowed.
Exhaust crossover may be blocked.
Ignition:
No magnetos, crank triggers or DIS systems allowed.
Aftermarket distributors allowed.
MSD allowed.
Only one battery permitted and must be securely mounted outside of the drivers’ compartment.
Any plug wire permitted.
Transmission:
Forward and reverse gears must operate.
Any stock 3, 4 or 5 speed transmission (must have 3 operable forward gears and reverse)
After market Bert or Brinn type transmission - add 60 pounds
Blow proof bell housing required.
Drive shaft must be steel and painted white with 2 safety loops(minimum 2” wide and ¼” thick), securely fastened to the floor or cross member.
Transmission makes may be interchanged.
Automatic transmission oil coolers permitted - can not be located inside the drivers’ compartment.
Clutch:
Stock clutch.
1” inspection hole required.
Mini clutch add 15 pounds
Stock flywheel – 14 lb minimum
No aluminum flywheels.
Any stock or after market throwout bearing.
Rear end:
Any stock passenger car or pickup rear end.
Rear end may be locked.
Ford 9” rear end allowed on all cars.
Floater rear ends add 10 pounds.
Quick change rear ends add 30 pounds.
Tires:
Any steel wheel, not to exceed 12” width.
9” or less wheels deduct 25 lbs.
greater than 10" add 50 lbs
Open tire rule. (Suggest soft!)
Wheel spacers allowed.
Heavy duty wheel studs and lug nuts required.
Bead locks allowed on any corner.
Safety:
Fuel cell secured by two metal straps (minimum).
Full window net strongly suggested.
Racing seat with 5 point harness required.
Fire extinguisher with gauge and securely mounted within drivers reach.
No electric fuel pumps.
Fire retardant racing suit is mandatory.
Helmet must be Snell or DOT approved.
Master cut off switch must be located within reach of the driver and easily accessible when standing outside the car.
No mirrors or radios allowed.
Receivers are mandatory. Receivers will be available for rent at the track – ear buds must be purchased.

All cars must cross the scales after qualifying. Advancing cars must cross scales after heats and B-mains.
