DELMAR -- The Delmar School District and surrounding community mourned Saturday after two of its high school students were killed in car crash on Dagsboro Road.
Maryland State Police said at about 9:30 p.m. Friday, a car with Kyle Dixon, Dustin Bruch, and two other teenagers was driving north on Dagsboro Road near Holt Road, when the vehicle allegedly missed a curve, crossed the road's double line and drove head-on into a 2003 Dodge Intrepid driven by Kimberly Johnson, 38, of Parsonsburg.
Police said two in the car died from injuries from the crash. Two other 16-year-olds -- one from Delmar, Md., and one from Delmar, Del. -- as well as Johnson, were hospitalized at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Police did not provide further details on the identities of the four teenagers involved in the crash. However, the two victims have now been identified as Dixon, 16, of Delmar, Del., and Bruch, 17, of Delmar, Md.
State police said no charges will be filed in the incident since the at fault driver -- now identified as Bruch -- was killed. Investigators said speed was a factor in the crash.
By Saturday morning, flags were at half-staff at Delmar Senior High School, where Dixon and Bruch were both honor roll students. Students, family and staff gathered to support each other with hugs, cards and memorials.
Officials from the Delmar School District declined to comment Saturday afternoon, but extended their condolences to both families their Web site.
"It is with great sadness to hear of the tragic loss of two Delmar students, Kyle Dixon and Dustin Bruch, and the injury of two others in a car accident Friday evening," the statement read. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families."
A funeral service for Dixon will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Delmar High School Auditorium, where family and friends may call an hour prior to the service. A visitation will also be held Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Short Funeral Home on East Grove Street in Delmar.
Arrangements for Bruch's funeral were not available Saturday afternoon.
