Earl Pearson Jr. Announces 1st Annual Lucas Oil Go-Kart Shootout for September 21, 22, 23rd
JACKSONVILLE, FL (August 1, 2007)- Three-time Dirt Late Model National Champion and current World 100 Champion Earl Pearson Jr. will be promoting the 1st Annual Lucas Oil Go-Kart Shootout scheduled for September 21, 22 & 23rd at Johnston County Speedway in Garner North Carolina. This three day mega event will be highlighted with the Pro Class paying $8,000 to win and a guaranteed purse with over $19,000 paying back through the full starting field of 30 positions. Fifteen additional classes will be run over the three days all paying money including Stock Medium paying $1,500 to win and Stock Heavy paying $1,000 to win guaranteed purses.
Lucas Oil one of the fastest growing additive lines in the consumer automotive and motorsports industry has signed on as the title sponsor of the 1st Annual Lucas Oil Go-Kart Shootout Presented by Earl Pearson Jr. Other companies that have signed on to sponsor this mega event include Dunn-Benson Ford, Graphics Art Express, Bobby Labonte Racing, Oakley, Bell Racing, ASI Racewear, WD Enterprises, Rick Schwallie Photography, Maxxis Tires, Ultra Max Chassis, Tempest Chassis and Capps Racing Engines.
Earl Pearson Jr. himself a former Florida state champion in go-karting in the 80’s has decided to host this 1st Annual event as a way to give back to the grass roots of racing and the young kids starting out in go-karting. Earl started racing go-karts at age eight and won numerous Florida state titles and championships before moving up to stock car racing at age 16. Earl’s go-karting experience has propelled his racing career that he is considered to be one of the top dirt late model drivers in the country. Earl has won three consecutive dirt late model national championships in 2004, 2005, 2006 and won the biggest dirt late model event of the year winning the World 100 at the famous Eldora Speedway in Rossburg Ohio in 2006.
“I owe a lot of my success in racing today to the fact of my early years of racing go-karts with my family. I was for****te to have a supportive family and several friends that helped me start racing go-karts that has gotten me to where I’m at today. I want to use this event as a way to give back to the go-karting community to encourage the young kids to have fun racing with their family and if they have dreams of becoming a professional racer to continue to pursue those dreams through go-kart racing. I’m very for****te to have several corporate partners to agree to sponsor this event to help make it into a huge deal for these go-kart racers. Hopefully we can build this into an annual event that will get bigger each year” stated Earl.
The Lucas Oil Go-Kart Shootout Presented by Earl Pearson Jr. will take place at the Johnston County Speedway in Garner, NC. Andy Harris a well respected go-kart event promoter in the NC area will be assisting Earl and the staff with this event. This event is unsanctioned but will be using WKA Engine Rules, Maxxis Tires only (Open Compound), AMB Timing and Scoring. All classes will qualify and line up straight up for features EXCEPT for the Lucas Oil Pro Class. The Lucas Oil Pro Class will qualify, run heat races and B-mains to fill the 30 Kart starting field. Two provisionals for the fastest qualifiers that doesn’t transfer through the heats and two provisionals for the two highest points racers in the Stock Medium and Stock Heavy classes that are pre-entered for all three classes including the Lucas Oil Pro Class that doesn’t transfer through the heat races and B-mains.
Friday September 21st will be an open practice day from 7pm-10pm. Saturday September 22nd will be the first race day with 10 classes running including Stock Lite, Stock Medium and Stock Heavy. Gates will open at 7am with practice beginning at 10am. Sunday will have six classes running including the $8000 to win Lucas Oil Pro Class. Gates open Sunday at 7am with practice beginning at 9am.
