Water (H2O, HOH) is the most abundant molecule on Earth's surface, composing 70-75% of the Earth's surface as liquid and solid state in addition to being found in the atmosphere as a vapor. It is in dynamic equilibrium between the liquid and vapor states at standard temperature and pressure. At room temperature, it is a nearly colorless, tasteless, and odorless liquid. Many substances dissolve in water and it is commonly referred to as the universal solvent. -i don't disagree with the races being called due to the surface last night but I'm clueless as to why there was no attempt to water the track at intermission. someone has to be held accountable for last nights surface. i have been associated with kart racing in Delaware since 1989 when i started racing at the age of 9.... I'm now 26 and last night was the biggest disgrace to karting i have ever witnessed. -jamie lewis

i feel as though us13 kart club should close for the next 2 weeks and resurface the track.we should get prices for several contractors , Linden Hitchens , Melvin Joseph , A.P Croll , David - Horsey etc. this will be the only way the fix the problem.

mr.james09
1- the track conditions were this way after the hotlaps. the track conitions progressively got worse.my feelings are something should have been done 1 to 2 hours prior to them cancelling, not waiting until 12:00am. it was a very dangerous situation putting the rookie jr 1's & jr 1's out there.

Ok well that is not my fault, they should have done something about it when the track started to come apart. They did not even attempt to put water on the track during intermission instead they blew the sand off of it.

ok,so if it stays this dry,no rain this week, and we have to put alot of water on it with the tractor, thruout the program there will be nobody complaining about delays right? i know when i volunteered to go out and put water on it at intermission the past few weeks half of the comments were happy about it and the other half complained. this week i had issues with my kart and couldnt do it,but i didnt notice anyone else walk out there and grab a hose either,i dont need to hear the"its not my job" crap,it wasnt mine either but i did it,why?because we are still a club and it would be helpful if members just stepped up and pitched in. mike savage

If it stays as hot as it has been without any rain which we have not seen in the delmar area in several weeks, the track will be hard to keep together. All tracks are fighting this problem right now. It will help if the surface is open up every week and watered at least 3 times that week prior to race night. With the weather we have had the track can't sit all week with water applied on just the race night it will not stay together.

Jamie you are right it was a big disgrace, and should of been embarrasing for the workers to send racers on it. Any other time we would wait for them to water and not leave till 12:30 /1 oclock but this week we were there till 12:30 for them to get cancelled. Complaining no rain isnt a real good excuse when Jamie offered to put irrigation in for the price of the material. If you guys dont understand what irrigation is, it means it will rain when ever you want it to. Sending kids out there who is just learning was very stupid, but hey this is Mike Masons world what he says you guys bow to. So when somebodys kid gets hurt bow down to pick him up because it looks like a one man show to me.

I don't understand why all the track experts are not working on the track helping to get it better. Maybe your doing the only thing you want to do by coming on here. It's more work than most people believe. The guy's doing the track have only done it for 4 or 5 races.

You dont have to be an expert to see a track is dry and coming apart.....you put water on it.

Brent James you are right you dont need to be a genius to figure it out. The three words you said earlier are perfect for them DEE, DEE, DEE!!!!!!!! Like on the post before we had about the track let Jamie put the irrigation in it will make a big difference. This post should be for who cares about the racers safety not for the ones who got the track this way to begin with. The prepares got half of it right by getting it smooth now we need to get rid of the rest of the junk. Just give Jamie the money for the material and be done with it.

The first thing the club needs to do is check with the owner of the property about installing the irrigation on his land and you need enough heads to have head to head coverage on both sides of the track for it to be truly effective, (water wagon) works good to if used. P.S. I'm not the reason the track sucks, It's the same clay they use every year, but of coarse Mr.WILSON I forgot "you know everything".

PeeWee, first of all it is pvc pipe & plastic heads. as fast as it is installed it can be tore out. 2nd the club is waisting money trying to irrigate sand, new clay is the answer to hold the moisture.if the club is not going to put new clay down, they just as well forget doing anything.

I honestly don't know if it's the great solution everyone is looking for by doing irrigation. I offered to do it because i think it will help once we figure out the right amount per week to put down. Even if you water it an hour or so sat night through weds and have the track preparer go out thursday night and decide to stop for the week or to put more water it i THINK when water is put on it friday/night the water should not filtrate down so quick thus holding the moisture closer to the surface. Like i said it might not work at all but for around a thousand dollars when there is over 20K in the club account i would hope the club members would atleast appreciate the effort.
Peewee, head to head coverage would not be warranted. the proposed rainbird falcon heads shoot roughly 60-65'.... with three heads per turn and two on the straights and the 5hp pump that brian white put in a few years ago for free we can irrigate the whole track at once. If you set the heads 15-20' off the track you will get adequate coverage. (it's not a yard it's a track) i've never seen three wide racing nor will we ever with slick tires... that's why the track doesn't need head to head coverage. Leroy i appreciate the offer for help and will let you know if they decide to do it... Steve willey also offered to trench in the lines and back fill them. i've talked with mike savage this week and know he is willing to offer... that's four people... it can be done in a night... Mike savage said we can do it at night and turn the lights so it won't be so hot outside... And the owner of the property has been contacted and agrees. Like steve said... the plastic pipe should be the least of charlie's worries if it's sold after all the years of prep/oil/fuel that is in that ground...... Mr. scott also offered a controller he has at his golf course... one less thing to get... i just wish that when i initially offered in May it was done... not when it's 100 degrees outside ;D
