I think the weight rules are only gonna effect how many show up and who does that hurt? I have heard that many that were there last year running WILL NOT be back because of the weight rule. Try to put 50lbs of weight on a kart to make weight! Outlaw is outlaw! If they wanted to do something then go by the weight of the drivers not the total of the karts or make it 2 classes maybe a 330 and a 350 etc. If the club wants to bring in more money I think they should rethink the weight rules!

We really enjoyed racing at Delmar last year but this year will have to add too much weight to the kart. We feel that the club would bring in more drivers and karts if they followed the same rules as the outlaw tracks. A lot of people will not have the time (especially if you work on Saturday) to set their kart up for Delmar on Friday night and then change it the next day for outlaw racing on Saturday night. The outlaws are not running for points or running WKA so wouldn't it be easier for the rules to be the same at all tracks?

The reason we made the weight requirement was to balance the field. If you feel the weight requirement is too high, feel free to suggest another weight. The flywheel requirement will not change.

Try to put 50lbs of weight on a kart to make weight! Two of the three kids i help add 40-50 lbs each for jr. 1 heavy and jr. 2 heavy and they run quite well. Not as much of a pain as you might think. Hope it works out for you Outlaw guys. I'd much rather see the speeds that you guys produce at delmar than of that at a track half its size. -JL

Just wanted to address this issue before the season starts. I've been told that the outlaw class does not wish to be involved with our points system and as Walt said the only reason for a weight rule was to level the playing field because we were adding the class to our weekly point system. So if the class just wants to compete per race and we do not have to keep track of any points than we don't have to level the playing field and the scale person has one less class to keep track of, so really it will be less work for the club and more money to spend on the rest of the classes for points at the end of the season.

I have a hard time beleiving that noone wants to be a part of the points system. Who wants to spend money for a class, hopefully to run well and at the end of the year have nothing to show for it. Is the kart club going to give a price break for those outlaw karts who would like to run or will they be able to run for money on a weekly basis? On another note the track was great for the practice they had last week! It was nice to have such a smooth track, not all the dust and not such a muddy track to run in at they beginning!

karting interest in one of the above paragraghs 45fan wrote "that they don't run for points and they don't run WKA" and I believe he not only runs outlaw but knows the people that do. They just like to race and they are having fun without having points (LESS WORK, MORE FUN). Why ruin it by running for points every weekend?

why would you want to work on a kart (less work) knowing what you do will not overcome the 80-90 lbs you are giving up. more fun too because being at such a disadvantage you sure aren't racing to win so it has to be for fun. =)
