As most of you know Mardela Speedway is going through a lot of changes during the off season. Keith Colbourne has been working to redesign the track and install new clay. There has been run off added to improve safety as well. The scoring tower/flag stand has been moved to widen the speedway and improve the quality of racing. A new tech barn and new registration booth are also on the agenda.
A new website is currently being built and should be able to keep everyone up to speed on what is going on at the speedway. We are also in the process of setting up reserve parking and registration for points racing. I will try to put a printable version of those documents on the website. We are also trying to establish the schedule for the 2013 racing season and should be finalized in the very near future. At the present time I can say we will have the Saturday night speedway points series along with several special money events throughout the season.
I have accepted the race director position and hope to see everyone come out and enjoy the old but new venue. Any questions I can be contacted 3 pm to 7 pm weekdays.
I would also like to add that we are currently looking for sponsors for The New Mardela Speedway. Please contact us for more information on sponsorship packages.

Just to keep everyone up to date. The Registration booth has been purchased and will be installed at the track when the weather breaks. Also the transponder system has been purchased. A tentative schedule has been designed but due to the changes in the kart racing landscape it will not be complete and for public knowledge until after the meeting on 2/2/2013.
We will be having a meeting at the Stargate Diner (formally Golden Corral) on 2/2/2013 @ 1 pm to 5 pm. This meeting is to give everyone a chance to show if there is indeed a true interest in a state series. Also, on the agenda at the meeting will be Reserved Parking and Points Memberships. We look forward to seeing everyone there.
If you are unable to attend but are interested in any of the above topics please call me at 443-614-5594.
Sincerely, Allen Ford Race Director/The New Mardela Speedway

For 2013 are you/can you make the PeeWee class follow suit with what is more commonly found throughout the SE. Red plate clones with 17/69 gear rule?

Yes we will be running the clone motor with the red plate for our peewee racers. Have not determined the gear rule as of yet but should have more information on that with in the coming week. All rules packages will also be posted on the website upon its completion. www.thenewmardelaspeedway.com. Thank you for the information. Look forward to seeing everyone this season. I can tell you this, at the Indoor Summer National at Williamston that track was about the same as Mardela last year on a Saturday night, and with the above mentioned gear rule the motors would only turn about 4800 before you have to lift in the turns and the speed was a little slower than a unrestricted comer kid kart.
