Does anyone have an update on William who took a very hard hit on the fence yesterday? My opinion has always been that the peewee's go way to fast but nobody listen's. I hope it does'nt take serious injury to prove that!!!!!

glad to hear William's ok and that your coming back, I looked at mylaps again this weekend and the speed for peewee's (5-7yrs.old) was at 41mph and the adults animal heavy (15yrs. old & up) was at 48mph. I'm sure many of you aren't happy with my comments and would rather me shut up about it but I'm not going to do it!!!

Little Brother, Someone must speak up for the kids before it is too late. There have been rules set up thru the years to address this topic. Apparently they have been side stepped or filed away. Tire pressures, gear size, Stock Motors, etc. will slow them down. These rules must be enforced. The childrens safety and training in the sport of racing is everyone's responsibility. Are we doing our part to look out for the kids? They are the future of our sport.

Now i realize we do "Not" race at Delmar nor do we travel to Mardela any more (Mainly because paying 40.00 for a 5yr old to race is crazy when its 10.00 or free on this side of the big bridge) I do have some input For What Its Worth on the rules there.
Heres an outsiders take that has not been subjected to the Pee Wee class at Delmar yet.....
Rules read 206 motor or green/silver plate clone (even though the silvers are a tad larger on average). This is crazy for a PEEWEE class, and I bet the 206's are not Junior models with the lower rev limiters. Most all tracks run RED plate clone (Smallest available) for 5-7 yr olds, or they run a flathead with a fixed max size jet in the carbs and a purple plate (jet size .49 no go) . Tracks following those rules are also running a spec gear of 17/69. Now i realize Delmar is not the size of Margrettsville or Liberty but you can always go down more on the gear to lets say a 15/69 or whatever the case is. I understand the need to run the 19th gear up at US13, but when you get a kid that wont lift and can stick it that thing is just gonna go faster and faster vs. a gear ratio that limits the speed by achieving higher RPMS faster. We run a small pipe clone, red plate at margrettsville and my son runs flat footed and turns 5400-5500, speed is very managable but yet fast enough that if he jerks the wheel off the corner he can and will spin out. Most tracks South that run red plate pee wee's run a 235 weight rule but I think 250 is more better good, esp. with some children that are larger.
I keep my eyes on mylaps all the time, too see how people did at the races there that i grew up racing with. When i see Pee Wee's running mid to low 12's thats TOO FAST! Thats why we have not came up there to race this year.
Also want to hit on the clone flywheel rule. Webpage don't list it but I know the "Verbal" rule is no Alumn. flywheels allowed. At first I kinda understood this...keep the cost down by 100.00. Thats all fine and great until for some crazy reason a stock wheel comes apart and hurts a child. Every other track that has a class for kids, 5-7 yr olds, abides by the Alum. flywheel rules. Even if we wanted to come up there and race, we couldnt because both of our red plate motors have the alum flywheels, or could we? No written rules saying you cant run one. Green plate clones have a place, its with kids 8+.
Need to make the class 206 Junior motors ONLY or Red Plate Clones only and look to see what that does to the speed. 12 second lap times are unsat.
I am glad the little guy is okay.
I helped with the formation of the Pee Wee class called "Future Stars" at Capitol City this season. We ran 2-3 races there and what do you know, the kids were running flat footed and going way to fast. I reccomended to the track officals to switch from a 17/68 to a 69 and to go from 235 to 250 to put them at a managable speed. They ignored my concern and its just going to be a matter of time there before a young child is wrapped up in the back straightaway wall off turn 2. 15lbs and a tooth might not make much difference on a unrestricted clone, but on a 5-5.5hp red plate it makes a huge difference.
You can dismiss this if you want, but I really wish consideration would be given to going to red plate clones only or 206 JR's only for 2013.
