ANNUAL CHAD SPICER REMEMBRANCE RACE TO FEATURE URC SPRINT CARS AT GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4
GEORGETOWN, DE (August 11, 2011) – On the upcoming Labor Day weekend, the annual Chad Spicer Remembrance Race is set to take place at Georgetown Speedway on Sunday, September 4. This special event honors the former Georgetown police officer that was tragically killed in the line of duty on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 during a traffic stop. The URC Sprint Cars will return to the Sussex County dirt oval for their third and final visit of 2011. In the two previous URC Sprint Car races this season, JJ Grasso was the winner on May 29 with Randy West besting the field on July 1.
The Bridgeport Modifieds will be on the agenda as well with a 25-lap main event for a hefty purse following qualifying races. The victor of the Bridgeport Modified feature event will walk away with $1,200 if the number of entries in the class exceeds thirty. If the car count in the Bridgeport Modified division is thirty or under, the winner will take home $1,000. Unaltered GM 602 engines, 604 engines with a Bridgeport Speedway supplied restrictor plate and 347JR Ford motors with a Bridgeport Speedway supplied restrictor plate will be allowed to compete in this Bridgeport Modified race. The popular Crate Late Models and Chargers will round out the docket.
On Sunday, September 4, the pit gates unlock at 4:00 PM with the grandstand turnstiles opening at 5:00 PM. Racing get underway at 7:00 PM. General grandstand admission is $20 and no charge for kids 12 and under. Admission to the pit area is $35. Also, it will be Bike Night at Georgetown Speedway and the driver and one passenger will be admitted to the grandstand for a total of $20.
Georgetown Speedway is a 1/2 mile dirt oval located on the northbound side of U.S. Route 113, just 35 miles south of Dover, Delaware, a 45-minute drive from Ocean City, Maryland, and easily accessible from Washington DC, Baltimore, and Philadelphia.
