HENDRICKSON IS THE FIRST ENTRANT FOR THE $6500 PRIZE AT THE JAM AT JERSEY AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (July 1, 2011) – Within minutes after the Jam in Jersey at Bridgeport Speedway was officially announced, the promotional team heading up the event received its first official entrant for the July, 19 race. Wade Hendrickson, a three-time Big Block Modified champion at Bridgeport Speedway, announced that he will be attending and racing for the potential $6500 payout. Other early entrants include Mike Franz, Gary Hager, Matt Harrell, Duane Howard, Neil Huber, Rick Laubach , Billy Pauch, Jr. and Richie Pratt, Jr.
At the Jam in Jersey race on Tuesday, July 19, two 25-lap Big Block features will be held including the $3000 to win George Wingate Classic race which was rained out on June 16. The field for the George Wingate Big Block Modified race will be enhanced as the top four non-qualified finishers in the first 25-lap Big Block Modified feature will be added to the George Wingate Classic contest. If a driver can win both Big Block Modified events on this night and is pre-entered, he will walk away from Bridgeport Speedway with $6500 which includes a $1000 double feature winner bonus. To be eligible for the extra money, Big Block Modified drivers simply need to contact the promotions department at mike@bpspeedway.com or 302-875-4196 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 302-875-4196 end_of_the_skype_highlighting to pre-enter the race for free by Sunday, July 17.
In addition, the Bridgeport Modifieds will compete in the Jam in Jersey show with a 25-lap main event on tap after qualifying events. The winner of this feature event will take home $1,200 if the number of entries in the Bridgeport Modified class exceeds thirty. If the car count in the Bridgeport Modified class is thirty or under, the top finisher will receive $1,000. The $2500 to win George Wingate Classic Bridgeport Modified feature will be contested on Thursday, August 18.
For this special event, any track stamped American Racer tires that conform to the current Bridgeport Speedway permitted compounds are eligible to be used. Unaltered GM 602 engines, 604 engines with a Bridgeport Speedway supplied restrictor plate and 347JR Ford motors with a Bridgeport Speedway supplied restrictor plate will be allowed to compete in the Bridgeport Modified race. A racer can compete in both divisions by registering a second car for $150. Additional rules for this race will be available at the track’s official website located at www.bpspeedway.com.
On Tuesday, July 19, the gates to the pit area will swing open at 4:30 PM with the grandstand gates unlocking at 5:30 PM. Heat racing will commence at 7:30 PM. General admission tickets are $20 for adults. Kids 12 and under are admitted for free. Pit admission for this event will be $35. A rain date of Wednesday, July 20 has been scheduled for this race.
