A BANNER CONTEST WILL BE HELD AT THE FIRST STATE FIRECRACKER AT GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY GEORGETOWN, DE (June 27, 2011) – Along with four divisions of racing and a fireworks display, the First State Firecracker on July 1 at Georgetown Speedway will include a banner contest. Kids are encouraged to make banners of their favorite driver that will be showcased during the night.
The United Racing Company (URC) Sprint Cars and Super Late Models will share the spotlight with each division having a 25-lap feature following qualifying events. The Bridgeport Modifieds will once again be on the Georgetown Speedway program with a hefty purse available for competitors. The victor of the Bridgeport Modified feature event will walk away with $1,200 if the number of entries in the class exceeds thirty. If the car count in the Bridgeport Modified division is thirty or under, the winner will take home $1,000. The popular Charger class will round out the docket. A fireworks display is scheduled to occur during intermission.
On Friday, July 1, the pit area opens at 4:30 PM with grandstand gates unlocking at 5:30 PM. The first qualifying event is slated to start at 7:30 PM. General grandstand admission is $20 and no charge for kids 12 and under. Admission to the pit area is $35.
Georgetown Speedway is a 1/2 mile dirt oval located on the northbound side of U.S. Route 113, just 35 miles south of Dover, Delaware, a 45-minute drive from Ocean City, Maryland, and easily accessible from Washington DC, Baltimore, and Philadelphia.
