WINGATE CLASSIC TO FEATURE BIG MONEY FOR MODIFIED MADNESS AT BRIDGEPORT SPEEDWAY
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (May 24, 2011) - This year’s George Wingate Classic at Bridgeport Speedway on Thursday, June 16 will have big money on the line for competitors. Modified Madness will be the theme for the 2011 edition of this annual race honoring the late Bridgeport Speedway promoter. The Big Block Modifieds and Bridgeport Modifieds will comprise the two-division mid-week show with each class competing in 25-lap feature races following qualifying events.
The Bridgeport Modifieds will be competing for a whopping $2500 first place check. “This will be our largest purse to date for the Bridgeport Modifieds,” stated track owner Jay James. The winner of the Big Block Modified feature will go home with $3000. The take the green money for each of these races will be $150.
Any track stamped American Racer tire 44; 48 on RR are eligible to be used. Unaltered GM 602 engines with DIS and BPORT seals are welcome, 604 engines with a Bridgeport Speedway supplied restrictor plate and 347JR Ford motors with a Bridgeport Speedway supplied restrictor plate will be allowed to compete in the Bridgeport Modified race. Open shock rule. A racer can compete in both divisions by registering a second car for $150. Additional rules for this race will be available at the track’s official website located at www.bpspeedway.com.
The 602 motor is the same as the motor ran at DIS. The only difference between the DIS and Bridgeport crate division, is the weight is 2300 lbs for Bridgeport Speedway. This race would be a great opportunity for Delaware racers to compete on another stage!
On Thursday, June 16, the pit gates will unlock at 4:30 PM with grandstand gates opening at 5:30 PM. Racing gets underway at 7:30 PM. General admission tickets are $25 for adults. Kids 12 and under are admitted for free. Pit admission for this event will be $35.
Hope to see you all there!
