URC SPRINTS ARE SET TO RETURN TO GEORGETOWN SPEEDWAY
GEORGETOWN, DE (August 29, 2009) – Sitting idle since Memorial Day
weekend, the 2009 dirt racing season at Georgetown Speedway is ready
to swing back into action on Labor Day weekend. The Rislone URC
Sprints are set to headline the program scheduled for Sunday,
September 6th. The last URC race at Georgetown Speedway occurred in
1994 and Greg Coverdale from nearby Milford was the victor.
In addition, the Super Late Models will be in competition on this
special holiday program with $2500 waiting for the winner. Also for
the first time at Georgetown Speedway, a “Mix and Match” race will
combine the Crate Late Models and the Crate Modifieds. A cool $1600
payday awaits the winner of this special contest with a minimum of
$150 to take the green.
Also, a special silent auction and the proceeds from the 50/50 will
benefit the Miss Delaware Organization, Miss Delaware Outstanding Teen
Organization and the Children's Miracle Network. Miss Delaware,
Heather Lehman, current Miss Delaware Outstanding Teen, Danielle
Marshall, and local representatives that are contestants in the Miss
Delaware Scholarship Program will be in attendance.
On Sunday, September 6th, the pit gates at Georgetown Speedway will
open at 3:00 PM with the grandstand gates opening at 4:00 PM. Warm-ups
will hit the track at 6:00 PM. General grandstand admission tickets
for adults are $20 with children 12 and under admitted for free.
