I haven't posted on here in forever, but this post made me laugh for once. I always liked my turkey deep fried but after my First Thanksgiving at my own house experience last year I am terrified of deep frying my turkey. We only bought a 14lb turkey bc there were only suppose to be 5 of us for dinner, well somehow 5 turned into 10, and then my brilliant uncle lol (some of you guys will know him from go kart racing...Jimmy Hickman) BURNT my deep fried turkey and it went from 14lbs to about 5lbs ...Moral of the story, if you are going to deep fry your turkey and have a cook who is better at racing than cooking have a backup plan Btw keep up the side dish list still looking for some new great ideas for this year!

I smoke my Turkey and Ham on the grill. This year I have a newer grill so not sure how I will do it yet. I usually have a smoke box over the grate the bisque are on. New ones don't have that? Any suggestions?
I let my turkey soak all night in a mixture I make with wine, sugar, garlic, apple juice, onion, etc. So my turkey is a little inebriated when it hits the grill. I place two bricks on the rack and place my turkey in the pan over them. I base it and usually turn the pan ever 1/2 hr. Once done I mix butter and honey and poor over it.
Since I started smoking my meat, there is no comparison to baking in the over or cooking bag. So, so moist!! I'll smoke one for you and a small fee. I have the grill!
My Mom just brought a ham and wants me to cook it, so I will be smoking it trying to get ready for the holidays.
We usually have sides dressing mac & cheese corn pudding yeast rolls green beans homemade yams (not canned) pumpkin pie home made sweet potato pie made honey glazed carrots devil eggs veg tray
That's all I can think of off hand
