The DKC track and management would like to give a very special thanks to our all 2011 season sponsors.
DKC was just about to release the official schedule for 2012 with a new Pro Money Race Series format. However, there have been some changes and the track has decided not to reopen. The 2011 DKC Management had an agreement that allowed them to run on Friday night since the speedway had changed their regular night of racing in 2011. But, that night also interfered with the US 13 Kart Club Track in Delmar, DE. Both tracks suffered a great loss of attendances.
The dilemma began with conflicts with the Friday night Middleford Speedway schedule. In 2011, the speedway had moved their regular racing night of Friday to run on Saturday nights. I think the track realized the different night of racing did not prove to work out with the severe loss of car turn out.
The speedway management has decided to run on the regular Friday night show as in the past years with the 2 Micro Sprints classes, a few different Mod Lites classes (age & rookie), the Delmarva Chargers & Truck Series. This change brought about the change to DKC in 2012.
DKC management was burdened with which choice best would suit the karters and supporters of all the kart tracks. Delmar runs on Friday night, Club Milton runs on Saturday night, Mardela runs on Saturday afternoons, and the Delaware Dirt Track Association runs on Sunday afternoons.
The management decided to go with a Wednesday night event. There were pro & cons on this decision for the racers, with schools still in session until June, a week night with school for the younger karters starting the racing in April and other reasons. The DKC management had a very successful first year. Although, the support was there by the karters & sponsors it has been decided it would be best to not reopen in 2012.
This decision was a hard one for the management to decide to make. Taking in all the many factors and not conflicting with the other tracks schedules, this was the best solution for DKC at this time. DKC would like to encourage the racers to support the other kart tracks this season. DKC apologizes for the inconvenience for the racers.
