Earlier in the year, I purchased a used Charger car with hopes of running it on Friday nights at Middleford. Now that they run on Saturdays, my availability to race is very limited. The car is a 1998 Chevy Cavalier.
Anyway, when I bought the car it ran fine. Now it seems that the Anti-theft system is keeping the car from running. The car turns over and will fire, but run for only a split second. Everything that I have read, points to the Anti-Theft system.
Have any of you guys run into this trouble and if so, is there anyway that you know of to bypass this system?
I would like to run this car at some point and time, even with my very limited schedule.
Thanks for any help, Jim

Yes that is the theft system. Those cavalierr are known for it. Almost every one out there has had to have been reset here or there. Theres 2 ways of resetting it. The most common way is... Turn the car over till it fires up and when it shuts itself off leave the key on. Do not turn it off. Leave the key on for ten minutes then turn it forward to start it. Should fire up and run perfect. If that doesnt work the other way is just turn the key on and leave it on for ten minutes then turn it back before you turn it forward to start the car.

I have tried the reset on several occasions and still no luck. I was wondering if there is a way to disable the system all together???

Also it might be just as simple as checking your fuses. Sometimes dumb stuff can cause major issues
