Middleford Speedway 2011 Announcement... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Upcoming changes at Middleford Speedway for the 2011 season!! After much deliberation with track workers, racers, and sponsors, we at Middleford Speedway have determined that the racing action will take place on Saturday Nights this season. The 2011 season will showcase our newly reconfigured ¼ mile racing surface as we compete weekly. The featured classes will include the always exciting Mod-Lites and Jr Mod-Lites, the super fast 600cc Micro Sprints and 270cc Micro Sprints, along with the fan favorite Charger Cars and the new Super Trucks. Over the winter, Middleford Speedway is going through some major changes! We have widened the racing surface to 60 feet - the back straightaway has been moved 30 feet to make the track wider - the turns have been reconfigured to match the back straightaway - the outer wall has been replaced with a run off area in the turns - the straightaways had to be lengthened to match the new radius of the turns. All of these improvements should make for better and safer racing for our competitors and fans. Also on tap for the 2011 season, we have booked with the ever popular 600 Pro Series for our 600cc racers. We encourage anyone with a 600cc to register with the Pro Series as weekly points will count with the Pro Series title. We will have 1 or 2 Pro Series races at Middleford Speedway this year, along with the opportunity to possibly host their $5,000.00 to win champ race. In addition, we will continue the tradition with our Middleford Speedway Micro National Open and will strive to make it bigger and better each year. We are working towards booking some Mod-Lite series races at the track this year and are currently talking with some key groups. The full season racing schedule for all classes is due for release by the month’s end. We have revamped our purse for the Open Mod-lites and Micros (600cc & 270cc). After last year’s 3 races with a $500 to win purse as a learning experience, we will pay $300 to win with 15 cars per class, and work on a higher purse with a higher car count. We hope this is some encouraging news. At Middleford Speedway a track run by racers, for racers, there is no handicapping, no tire rule, and no 270cc bladder rule. Check out www.middleford-speedway.com for photos and more information. Hope to see you at the new and improved Middleford Speedway in 2011!

We as a team will not be there! I think this is a MAJOR MISTAKE on behalf of the track to move to Saturday nights. I am so glad that this is a track that is run by the racers and for the racers! If that was true then it would stay on Friday night as it has been for many many years! By the way what was the precentage of people at the banquet vote that wanted it to stay on friday? Bet we will NEVER find out!

Well, so much for my plans of running a charger car or super truck here. I was planning on running a car here on Friday nights as I already race in the Legends series at Wall Stadium, NJ on Saturday nights.
Good Luck to all the drivers here on Saturdays.

Well i think moving to Saturday is a good choice, because at delmar the track is to big for mod-lites !

to Fan2011, it doesn't matter if the track is too big for modlites or not, the point isnt about the modlites drivers attending middleford, it is the fans. I dont know of anyone, regardless of if they love the modlites or not, who is going to skip the delmar races and go to seaford. really stupid move. sad really. the modlites will leave delmar to race at seaford then when middleford decides that saturdays dont work, and move back to fridays, delmar will say screw you guys, and i wouldnt blame him.

i think it would probably be a bad idea for mod lites and fans. As a matter of fact, I know it will, but it is actually a pretty good idea for micros 'cause bridgeport runs on Friday nights so maybe that will help micro numbers.

I don't see any 600 micros coming down from bridgeport to run middleford with the poor payout they received. Why run for just a trophy. I know delmar will pay more for mod-lites. It's sad because micros and mod - lites seem to be made for middleford speedway. Gettting back to the banquet everyone i spoke with voted Friday Night seems like the track run by the racer for racer is run by a promoter of sorts and makes rules as they come.

FAN2011- I can't totally agree with you. I went to Camp Barnes. They had 24 of them. They ran them first and it was a good race. Only acouple of cautions. About 20 cars finished, and the race only took 10 or 12 minutes. I enjoyed them.

They might get Treys crowd over there in milton. Just hope that Jay darling does better with officiating then in Trey in milton. JMO

They should worry about Delmar because they do such a great job and had such a great kart count this year?

might see some delmar mid packers, come to middleford to try to run for wins. also is delmar harder on engines with it being so much bigger.
by BTW I know nothing about mod-lites, just thinking out loud

I agree with disappointed, I wonder how many saturday nights middleford will need to see that this is a dumb move. charlie has given the modlites a place to run every weekend, why would they risk leaving and then having middleford screw them over? I dont see too many modlites leaving sat nites at delmar to go to seaford. i could be wrong, but i dont see it.

also, doesnt middleford need for those bleachers to be full in order to pay out those great amounts? how do they think they are gonna get people to leave delmar to come to seaford? everyone i have talked to has said they voted for friday nights, how can they justify having them on saturday nights and still say they let the racers decide?

Why would anyone choose $20 pit entrance fee + $25 to race vs $25 to enter and nothing more to race. In Delmar at least you can get back your entrance fee for just taking the green. In last place in Seaford you would be lucky to get back your gate fee and your still out your race entry fee. I hope Tommy Morris is aware of all that is going on with his track. This could end up being a big mistake for him and the track! I think we should all stay home from racing there until they show that its a track is run by the racers and is for the racers like they claim in there web site! Why was there even a vote if they were gonna do what they wanted anyway. Isn't that kinda like a dictatorship? I have heard many of the track workers wont be there now that have been there for years! What I am wondering is the real reason for doing this when racers have had no problem with racing on Friday nights. Has anyone ever thought of how many racers and spectators enjoy two different places to go that is close to home now they are going to choose between the two or just stay with what they have been doing on Saturday nights. I feel there is someone putting money in the track who maybe has a special vendetta against Charlie and Delmar. Enjoy and good luck cause your gonna need it!

i talked to a few drivers that stopped by the shop.they run supertrucks at middleford and little lincolns at delmar. and they said that they were going to run the little lincolns at delmar.they said that they voted for friday nights and 90 percent of the drivers they talked to voted for fridays. now they have to make a choice.and they will choose delmar. i quess middleford is going to be like georgetown was a few years ago.WEEDS AND TREES. it is ashame to have done all that work and no cars to race and no fans to watch.i agree with the last 2 post,GOOD LUCK,YOU WILL NEED IT.

What were ther thinking? I don't even know why you would even consider Friday nights. That's just common sense. I've said it in the past and I'll say it again. That place is nowhere near what it was when Walt Breeding promoted it. He had that place lookin good with a very bright future and they ruined it. It's ashame. The mod lites usually put on a good show there. That is..........when there is more than five of them.

It is very simple. Tommy & Paige do not care about the Modlites, never have. Very simple to understand, modlites do not have wings!!!
