Special Ceremonies Highlight K-C Raceway opener
CHILLICOTHE, OHIO- Every organization has a hallowed moment, a moment of reflection, and a path leading down a trail of sacred memories. Too many times, those remembered aren't recognized until the final speck of sand has slipped through the hour glass to eternity. Jeff Schrader wanted to do something for K-C Raceway/ Atomic Speedway's finest while he could.
That moment was cherished dearly as some of the greatest drivers to ever master the K-C/Atomic highbanks gathered for s reunion in victory lane. It was estimated that over 2000 victories accrued among the immortals--maybe more. The moment was solemn, yet joyous as echoes of flathead Fords and bellowing Pontiac's flashed visions of racing's past through the minds of those old enough to remember. Many aging Baby Boomer's became kids again.
Saturday night Jeff and Vickie Schrader's K-C Raceway experienced such a monumental moment. Some of the honorees were unable to attend do to healt problems or having passed to eternity. Their memories live on.
Many of the battles on the high banks continued Saturday through stories that the oldtimes shared. Smiles were shared and firm handshakes, reflective of those firm grips on the steering wheel, welcomed old rivals.
Part of the fanfare associated with opening day was the special ceremony that honored former K-C racing legends and their families. Each of the sections A through J of the K-C bleachers will now be named after the track’s greatest names. Honored were Dean Knittle, Sam Erwin, Junior Spencer, Charlie McCann, Wayne McGuire, Delmas Conley, Audie Swartz, Merle & Larry Williams, Dan Reno, Bud & Joe Frazier and The Smalley Family. Also, members of the original Chillicothe Stock Car Racing Association that built the track in 1953 were honored; and a section of the bleachers was named for and in memory of them. Doug Ogden and Jim Meeker were there representing the CSCRA. Each of the families honored had someone represent them on this special day.

Combine that excitement with the hot bed of stock car racing and a mini-mega event unfolds for Friday's opener.
The Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association (OVSCA) is a 410 Sprint Car Series which sanctions 410 Outlaw style sprint car racing regionally in the Ohio-West Virginia area within two hours of the Charleston, WV area. The sanctioning body was born during the off-season prior to the 2010 racing season in an effort to promote and provide sprint car racing teams within a uniform set of rules; and stabilize purses for the betterment of the sport of 410 sprint car racing. The organization also offers sprint car teams an alternative to use a tire brand, namely Hoosier Tires, in contrast to track tire deals that command the use of other tire brands. The racing season for the OVSCA runs from April through October.
Skyline has also expanded its outreach to fans and drivers with a Facebook page, which will announce updates along with the Skyline website.

“Three Races, Three Winners as Quade Collects Career First at Potomac”
By, Doug Watson
Budds Creek, MD- For the third consecutive week a new face graced victory lane at the Potomac speedway as Mechanicsville Md.’s Matt Quade collected his career first late model feature win in last Friday night’s 25-lap event.
Roland Mann and Jeff Pilkerton brought the field to the initial green flag. Mann got the jump at the start as he would take the early race lead. Mann appeared to have the car to beat as he lead effortlessly for the first 18-laps of the race. However, a flat tire would sideline his effort on lap-19. Jeff Pilkerton would then inherit the race lead and looked like he would win his first Potomac late model main since 1999.
As Pilkerton lead, fifth-starting Dale Hollidge reached second by the twenty-first circuit. As the duo raced side by side, they would tangle on the final lap, sending both cars to the rear of the field. Matt Quade was in the right place at the right time as he was the new leader and would hold off a furious, last lap challenge by defending track champion David Williams, to score the win.
“This is a dream come true.” The third year pilot stated. “It’s taken us a while to finally get here and I cant thank all my sponsors and my crew for sticking with me.” Having defending champ David Williams on his bumper for the final re-start made Quade a little nervous. “Yeah I knew he was back there.” Quade stated. “The track got one lane and I knew if I stayed on the bottom he’d have a hard time passing on the top.” Bobby Beard collected third, PJ Hatcher was fourth and Ed Pope would complete the top-five. Heats went to Mann and Pilkerton.
In the 16-lap street stock feature it was Pasadena Md.’s Kurt Zimmerman scoring his first win of the season. Zimmerman, who started fourth, took the lead from Eric Johnson on lap-five and would then have to repel the advances of defending track champion Kyle Nelson to post his 13th career Potomac feature win. Johnson would hang on to third, Ricky Edmonds was fourth and John Sellner would fill the front five. Heats went to Zimmerman and Ben Bowie.
In other action Tony Garber made it two wins out of three races in the 20-lap modified feature, Defending hobby stock champion Josh Dotson scored his first feature win of the season in the divisions 15-lap event and Richard Gwizdale annexed the 15-lap four-cylinder feature.

SHORT STORY
RYAN GODOWN AND RANDY STOUDT TAKE NASCAR WINS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY
Bechtelsville, PA April 11, 2010 . . . “The car goes wherever I point it,” said Ryan Godown in the Grandview Speedway victory lane on Saturday night. “Good things are happening. I got to give credit to the crew. They gave me a great car.” Godown was celebrating his victory in the 40-lap NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modified feature that had earned him $4,000. Randy Stoudt took the top honors in the companion 20-lapper for the Late Model stock cars.
Jarred Miller set the early pace leading the 28 car starting field for the 40-lap 358 Modified feature. At six laps Mike Laise went to the front and just two laps later Craig VonDohren was on top. With 12 laps in the record book VonDohren had a huge lead on the field but a caution closed up the field and on the restart Mike Laise was able to lead for just one lap. VonDohren got back in front with 14 laps completed and set the pace until the 24 lap marker when a caution for a two car tangle on the backstretch brought out the caution. VonDohren had smoke pouring out the back of his Felty Farms No.1c and took the car to the pits giving the lead to Ryan Godown.
Once in front Godown set the pace for the balance of the race. At the finish the Ringoes, NJ racer had a comfortable lead over second place Kyle Follweiler (Slatington) followed by Jeff Strunk (Mohnton), Billy Pauch Jr. (Frenchtown, NJ) and Duane Howard (Oley).
The 20-lap Late Model feature took a while to get going with no less than three cautions before the race had one lap completed. Once everyone settled down Randy Stoudt (Pottstown) took control and was able to lead from start to finish to get the win. Second spot went to Randall Paxton followed by defending champion Brian Shuey, Bill Henning and Kurt Spotts.

Godown was celebrating his victory in the 40-lap NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modified feature that had earned him $4,000 and giving great praise to the crew of the Norm Hansell owned Norm’s Save Station #357 in victory lane. Randy Stoudt took the top honors in the companion 20-lapper for the Late Model stock cars wheeling his self-owned TP Trailers No. 10 to his 52nd career victory and giving him the early season point lead in the chase for the Late Model title.
Jarred Miller set the early pace leading the 28 car starting field in the 40-lap 358 Modified feature. At six laps Mike Laise went to the front and just two laps later Craig VonDohren was on top. With 12 laps in the record book VonDohren had a huge lead on the field but a caution closed up the field and on the restart Mike Laise was able to charge to the lead for just one lap.

At the finish the Ringoes, NJ racer had a comfortable lead over second place Kyle Follweiler (Slatington) followed by Jeff Strunk (Mohnton), Billy Pauch Jr. (Frenchtown, NJ) and Duane Howard (Oley). The battle for positions second through fifth had fans on the edge of their seats in the closing laps and helped warm them as chilly weather set in.
The 20-lap Late Model feature took a while to get going with no less than three cautions including one for a lengthy fuel leak situation on the Chuck Schutz entry before the race had one lap completed. Once everyone settled down Randy Stoudt (Pottstown) took control and was able to lead from start to finish to get the win and move closer to catching Jon Kellner Sr.’s record 58 career Late Model wins. Second spot went to Randall Paxton in his best effort since becoming a regular at the Bechtelsville oval, followed by defending Late Model champion Brian Shuey (Shoemakersville), Bill Henning (Lansdale) and Kurt Spotts (Pennsburg).
Qualifying heats for the 358 Modifieds were won by newcomer Jarred Miller, six time Modified champion Craig VonDohren, past champion Terry Meitzler and Kevin Hirthler. Consolation victories went to Mike Gular and Meme DeSantis.
John Favinger was impressive in his Late Model qualifying heat win while Ron Kline had a strong showing winning his qualifying heat but was an early casualty in the feature race.
The Cargo Trailer Sales Award, a $50 gift certificate for the tenth place finishers went to T.J. Mayberry in the Late Models and Shawn Reimert in the Modifieds. Midway leaders in each feature earn Dan Deli’s Awards and they went to Craig VonDohren in the Modifieds and Randy Stoudt in the Late Models.
Auto racing action returns to the Grandview Speedway on Saturday, April 17th at 7 p.m. with the "Topless Truckin‘ 20" for Late Models and NASCAR 358 Modifieds.

Moyer Turns Back Babb Again To Capture Illini 100 At Farmer City Raceway
FARMER CITY, IL - April 10, 2010 - Billy Moyer still has Shannon Babb's number in the Illini 100 at Farmer City Raceway.
For the second time in three years the veteran star denied his former protégé's bid for an emotional hometrack victory, taming the tricky fairgrounds quarter-mile oval on Saturday night to capture the third annual World of Outlaws Late Model Series event before a standing-room-only crowd.
Moyer, 52, of Batesville, Ark., remained undefeated in the Illini 100 with a $20,175 triumph that closely mirrored his thrilling win over Babb in the inaugural race in 2008. While his victory margin wasn't quite as narrow as two years ago, Moyer grabbed the lead on lap 72 when Babb slipped over the turn-one berm while negotiating lapped traffic and then had to repel several frantic late-race challenges from the hard-charging Moweaqua, Ill., driver.
"That was a lot of fun," said Moyer, who became the seventh different winner in as many WoO LMS A-Mains this season. "I like the kind of racetracks that you gotta chase like I did tonight. It was slick, and I think I ran every inch of it out there, every groove there was. That makes it fun for a driver, rather than just running in that one little spot."
Babb, 36, was a deeply disappointed runner-up after leading on three separate occasions during the highly-competitive event. Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., who started 17th, joined the lead battle with Moyer and Babb late in the distance but settled for third place, while Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, Iowa, slipped to fourth at the finish after leading briefly before a mid-race caution flag and sixth-starter Don O'Neal of Martinsville, Ind., placed fifth.
"That's pretty ironic I guess, to run one-two like that again (with Babb)," said Moyer, who did not enter last year's Illini 100. "He's a good kid. We sat here (Moyer and Babb were parked side-by-side in the pit area) and shot the s--- all weekend. I like him from back in the day when he ran for us (Babb drove cars owned by Moyer's father) and we're still good friends."
Moyer, who started seventh, had his Victory Circle by Moyer car up to third place when the race's first caution flag flew on lap 46 for the engine problems suffered by Rick Eckert of York, Pa. Then Birkhofer, who had become the first driver to supplant Babb as the leader when he slipped in front on lap 44, got off slowly on the restart, allowing Babb and Moyer to move into the top-two spots as lap 47 was scored.
Babb built nearly a straightaway edge over Moyer by lap 52, but less than a dozen circuits later the two drivers were in a battle for the lead. Moyer surged ahead to assume command on lap 64, but Babb split Moyer and a lapped car in turn three to regain the lead on lap 68.
The lead changed hands for the fifth and final time in the event on lap 72 after Babb ran out of racing room as he attempted to go around a lapped car and slid over the turn-one berm in his Sheltra Construction Rocket, handing the top spot back to a shocked Moyer.
"He'd done that twice before and he saved it," Moyer said of Babb's momentum-killing misstep. "Shannon drove the wheels off that thing every lap – you got to give the kid credit for that – but he just missed it that time. He was just trying so darn hard I guess.
"When I seen him slip there, I wanted to get in there and close the door before he could get back down. But when I went by he still had two wheels out there (over the berm), so I was in the clear."
Not for long, however. By lap 80 Moyer was being challenged by McCreadie, whose charge from deep in the field in the Sweeteners Plus Rocket car reached second place when Babb slipped out of the groove, and Babb was regrouping for another assault.
But even a final caution flag on lap 93 – for WoO LMS rookie Austin Hubbard of Seaford, Del., who stopped along the backstretch – couldn't stop Moyer from recording his WoO LMS alltime-best 36th career win. He took advantage of the paint-trading race for second between Babb and McCreadie to open up some breathing room before reaching the checkered flag ahead of Babb with about four car lengths to spare.
"I just told myself, 'Don't make a mistake,'" Moyer said of the final restart. "You just can't bobble. I feel like I made two of them in those last seven laps, but it turned out good for us I guess.
"We've raced against each other a lot and I know how (Babb) drives, so I just had to drive defensively," added Moyer, who registered his 14th WoO LMS win since 2004 and first since April 15, 2008, at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. "That's just part of being around as long as I have. On that last lap I was ready for anything because I knew he was eager and he'd be right there, so I kinda drove three and four a little differently to make sure nothing happened."
Babb couldn't hide his dejection after falling short in his homestate's biggest and richest dirt Late Model event. He was terse with his post-race assessment of his defeat, complaining about his problems dealing with lapped traffic.
"We had a really good car on that restart (on lap 46)," said Babb, who started from the outside pole. "We got by Billy and Birkhofer, and got the lead."
But Babb's grip on the race was ripped away when he couldn't safely overtake a slower machine entering turn one on lap 72. He described his struggles trying to rally: "I lost four positions (before regaining speed) and had to try and come back, while those guys (lapped cars) are out there running that quarter-midget line from top-to-bottom. All in one lap they run the whole racetrack...I don't know, it's frustrating."
McCreadie, meanwhile, twice appeared that he might be in position to win, but circumstances dive-bombed his hopes.
"We ran (Moyer) down (with 20 laps remaining) and I thought we might just roll right by him," said McCreadie, who turns 36 on April 21. "But then all of a sudden I kind of stalled out, and that was it.
"Then, when that yellow fell with about 10 to go, I thought, This is about the only chance I got. I knew we were gonna be good for about six laps, but I just never really got a chance to do anything."
That's because Babb darted to the inside of McCreadie on the lap-93 restart, stopping McCreadie's move on Moyer before it even started. McCreadie was able to nose underneath Moyer a couple times rounding turn two during the next two laps, but he ultimately spent too much time battling – and trading paint – with Babb to mount a last-ditch bid for the win.
"The only thing I can think is that Shannon laid back about five or six car lengths (coming to the restart) to get the type of a run he did down the homestretch," McCreadie said of the final restart. "I never saw him until we went into one. I looked over and he was there, and that pretty much killed the run I had on Moyer.
"I wish we could've had more fun racing for the lead rather than letting Billy get away from us like he did," added McCreadie, who took over the WoO LMS points lead. "Us racing together like that for the last five laps probably cost both of us a shot at the win."
Defending DIRTcar UMP Late Model national champion Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., finished sixth, falling short of a coveted victory in his hometrack's marquee event. Polesitter Brady Smith of Solon Springs, Wis., gradually slipped backward during the 100 and placed seventh. Shane Clanton of Locust Grove, Ga., who used an 'emergency' WoO LMS provisional to start from the 25th spot, finished eighth despite running the final 60 laps with a broken 'dummy' shock on his car's left-rear corner; Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersvlle, Ill., was a steady ninth; and Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., completed the top 10 after starting fourth.
McCreadie and Tim Fuller captured Saturday night's pair of 20-lap B-Mains. Ironically, both WoO LMS regulars hail from Watertown, N.Y., and starred in the Northeast's DIRTcar big-block ranks before moving on to the full-fender division.
Tim Lance of Brimfield, Ill., captured the 25-lap Non-Qualifiers' Race. He pocketed $1,000 as a consolation prize for missing the Illini 100.
A huge two-week stretch for the WoO LMS continues on April 16-17 with the inaugural running of the Commonwealth 100 at Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Va. The two-day spectacular offers a $25,000 top prize from a total weekend payout of nearly $125,000.

Conley Takes Inaugural AMRA Late Model Go
Hall of Famer Aukland takes Road Warrior Challenge, Adams Adds Hobbys
K-C Raceway Results FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
By Scott Wolfe
CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-April 10, 2010- Three veteran drivers took home the top billing during Saturday night’s victory lane celebration in the season opener at Jeff and Vickie Schrader’s K-C Raceway. R. J. Conley, Wheelersburg, Ohio claimed the inaugural running of AMRA Late Models, while the AMRA Road Warrior Challenge for Advanced Services Modifieds saw former South Dakota driver and Zanesville, Oho transplant Rick Aukland take the win. Jamie Adams, Laurelville, won the Dan Reno Hobby Stock feature.
Each of the families had someone represent them on this special day.
Wheelersburg, Ohio’s R.J. Conley loves opening night. After all, the high-flying driver of the Conley Trucking/ American Metal Supply/ Rocket Chassis #71R has won three of the last four opening nights at K-C Raceway. Saturday he took home the $1500 winner’s check in the 25-lap main. The event was the first-ever AMRA Late Model event at K-C Raceway.
“I love opening nights,” laughed Conley, who also drew much applause and some laughs from the crowd. “I wish they had more of them..one in May…one in June…one in July (laughing).”
“It’s special to win here on this very special night, where all the former superstars have been honored. It’s really special to win with all these greats (drivers) in attendance.”
Conley led green-to-checkered, but for a time Greg Oliver gave the veteran a run for the money. Conley was masterful in traffic allowing him to charge on to the win.
Jackson, Ohio’s Jason Montgomery was the hard-charger of the race, battling Zach Dohm and Rod Conley hard for an eventual third place finish. In a race that was slowed just once for a Mike Ratliff spin, a torrid pace allowed the race to finish in less than ten minutes.
Rick Aukland came on late to finish fourth ahead of ageless Delmas Conley, Audie Swartz, Mark Fraizer, Rod Conley, Zach Dohm, and Billy Gullion.
In the $1,200 to win, 30-lap AMRA Road Warrior Challenge, Dave Pinkerton led the first go-round, only to have Rick Aukland take the top spot on the second round. Aukland was quickly chased by West Portsmouth’s Doug Adkins. Chris Stotts mounted a drive into third and challenged for second, but his bid ended with mechanical failure on lap six.
The Aukland/Adkins duo pulled away from the field for the next ten circuits before Adkins begin to fade and Jason Montgomery climbed into the mix. The first caution of the night came on lap 16 when Jacob Hawkins was cited for a spin.
Great action took place back in the pack as Bobby Kitchen, Pinkerton, Rob Stambaugh, Bob Crace, Jr., Shawn Holliday, and Nick Hoffman all fought for position. Meanwhile, Kenny Johnson blasted off the tail to 11th by the lap 1 caution. Three laps later Montgomery’s drive ended with a flat.
The Badland’s Bandit Aukland started to drift as his cooling tires took some time to build up the necessary heat after the restart. Adkins took advantage and made a challenge, only to once again have the yellow come out.
Johnson picked up three more positions in the transition. Adkins turned up the heat on Aukland, enabling the top five to soar within reach of the lead. Johnson moved into fourth by lap 26, working hard on Kitchen for third.
At the finish Aukland held off Adkins for the win with Kitchen, Johnson and Stambaugh in tow. Shawn Holliday, Nick Hoffman, Matt Holcomb, Josh Edmisten, and Bob Crace, Jr. rounded out the top ten.
“I’ve won here several times before and it’s always a challenge,” said Aukland. “I’d like to thank my owners and sponsors. I was hoping the checkered would fall soon. I could feel the right rear going down and the rim hitting the dirt.” (Eventually, the tire went flat)
In the Dan Reno Hobby Stock main Tommy Mossbarger returned to his former championship form with a big heat win, but he was no match for the high-flying Jamie Adams. Adams, the master for the K-C Hobby Stocks blitzed on to the win. Rounding out the top five were Jim Hildebrand, John Powell, and Brandon Thompson.
Next week will be the first regular night of racing with four divisions, the first for the 410 outlaw sprints with Late Models, Modifieds, and Hobby Stocks.

COVERT DOMINATES HAGERSTOWN’S THREE STATE FLYERS, WARRENFELTZ GETS SECOND IN PURE STOCKS
Hagerstown, Md. – In a repeat of what he accomplished three times at Hagerstown Speedway last season, Jason Covert completely dominated Saturday nights Three State Flyers late model event and piloted the Barry Klinedinst owned Rocket to the $3,000 triumph by 10.421 seconds over Billy Wampler.
Covert, of York Haven, Pa won his heat and then with luck of the draw, dashed away with the dash win after starting from the outside pole. He then led every lap in the 35-lap main and following a 12th lap restart, entered a different time zone and began stretching his lead each and every lap until claiming victory in the first of four Three State Flyers events on the 2010 Hagerstown schedule.
“The credit has to go to the crew, my owner and my wife,” said Covert of York Haven, Pa. “I want to dedicate this to my wife. We lost one of her grandma’s while the other grandma was in the hospital last Saturday. I left here while watching so this is for her. I told her I‘d try to not let her down tonight. It’s been a pretty hard week for everybody in our family.”
Mike Warrenfeltz again was out front for the second consecutive week in the Ernie D’s pure stocks. The defending champion began from the previous winners 12th position, took second on lap eight and then grabbed the lead on lap 11. He put the consecutive and career 76th score together by one length over Darrin Younker.
Covert pulled ahead of Wampler, Mike Knight and Rusty Sites on the start but the second lap brought the red flag and disaster to second row starters Sites and Knight when Sites made an inside pass on the backstretch and contact was made entering turn three as the two went violently into the fence. Friday night TSF winner Jamie Lathroum was committed high and then slammed into Sites.
The race resumed with Roy Deese, Frankie Plessinger and Jeremy Miller battling for fourth position until Miller rolled to a stop on the 12th with steam coming from under the hood.
The green waved again for the final time as Covert took off and began stretching his distance while Wampler secured the runner up spot over Deese and Plessinger. Fourteenth starter, Greg Satterlee moved past J. T. Spence for fifth spot on the 13th and closed in to make a three car battle for several laps until taking fourth on the 19th and then began battling with Deese.
Meanwhile Covert was already in a different time zone and with ten to go, was cruising out front with a 6.7 second advantage and showed no signs of letting up. He continued his torrid pace to the checkered and the 10.421 second blowout.
“All the credit goes to the crew, this is their win,” said Covert.
“I told the guys this is the best the track has been in a feature event in ten years. We couldn’t ask for a better race track.”
Wampler easily held to the second spot while Satterlee got past Deese on the final circuit to score third while Plessinger came home fifth. Spence (10th) ended sixth ahead of 19th starter Nick thingyson, Ronnie DeHaven Jr from 18th, Al Shawver Jr., the Winchester Auto Dealers Exchange hard charger from 23rd and 20th starting Gary Stuhler. Heat wins went to Knight, Sites, Deese Jr. and Covert while D. J. Myers was the consy winner.
Wayne Hawbaker led the first two laps of the pure stock feature while Darrin Younker took the point on the third circuit and Warrenfeltz was coming from 12th and Kenny Dillon was following. Warrenfeltz took second from Danny Beavers on lap eight while Dillon followed on the tenth. Warrenfeltz took over on lap 11 while Dillon got past Younker in another two laps but then spun in turn three with one to go. Younker kept the pressure on following the restart but ended a length short with Beavers, Hawbaker and Drew Fitzsimmons next in line. Younker and Hawbaker were the heat winners.
“This track is fast, fast, fast,” Warrenfeltz said. “I knew in the heat race, the car was going to go real good. I just stood up on the throttle.”
The upcoming event will be the Duron Paint sponsored night featuring a regular show of late models, late model sportsman and pure stocks plus the second Enduro Dash.

TREVOR LEWIS THRILLS BIG BRIDGEPORT CROWD AT 2010 RISLONE URC SPRINT SEASON OPENER SATURDAY NIGHT
A big crowd turned out for URC's 63rd season opener on Saturday night at the Bridgeport Speedway and at the end of the night, Trevor Lewis of Upper Black Eddy, PA was in victory lane. For Lewis, it was his first win of the season and his seventeenth career win under the URC banner. A field of thirty URC sprint cars turned out for the season opener with heat race victories going to Davey Sammons, Chris Coyle and Trevor Lewis as Nick Schlauch won the "B" Main.
The twenty-five lap Rislone URC Sprint feature was a thriller as pole sitter Davey Sammons gunned into the lead at the drop of the green flag. Chris Coyle followed in second until lap three when Curt Michael powered the Bill Gallagher owned sprinter into second, quickly attempting to reel in the leader. Defending URC Champion JJ Grasso was on a charge after starting tenth, Grasso was in the top five by lap five.
Sammons used lapped traffic to his advantage and extended his lead over Michael who was staging a challenge to the leader on lap seven. Trevor Lewis hauling his way into the hunt was in chase of the leaders at the same time.
The red flag was displayed on lap nine for a spectacular crash involving Art Liedl and Chris Coyle. Liedl's car broke heading into turn one and Coyle had nowhere to go. The Dave Bett's owned #22 driven by Coyle flipped violently in turn two. Coyle of Wilmington, DE walked away uninjured.
On the restart, Sammons retained the lead spot with Curt Michael, Trevor Lewis and JJ Grasso moving in ever so closely with Randy West in fifth. The top five remained unchanged through the halfway point, but then things started to get real interesting.
Lewis moved the Scott McClaren owned #21 into second on lap fifteen, using the inside lane and went to work on chasing down the leader. On lap fifteen, the yellow was displayed for Nick Schlauch Jr who stopped on the track.
The restart triggered an awfully crowded first turn as Sammons, Lewis, Grasso and Curt Michael were in chase of the lead. With all the challenges, Sammons held on like a seasoned pro.
Mechanical problems with the Scott Pursell sprinter brought out the final caution of the feature event on lap twenty-one. The shootout to the finish was set and things got interesting. Lewis took to the inside lane to take the lead on lap twenty-one. Grasso passed Curt Michael for third and immediately began to challenge Sammons for second. Grasso took the inside lane and three quarters of the way down the backstretch, with the cars at top speed, Sammons and Grasso came together. As a result, the Palladino #99 shot to the infield. The entire time, Grasso maintained control of this sprinter, driving across the infield and re-entering the speedway between turns three and four. Grasso lost just one spot and left the crowd totally amazed with his outstanding recovery of what could have been a very scary crash.
For the final two laps, Lewis remained the leader with Sammons second. Curt Michael advanced one spot as a result of the Grasso near crash, finishing third. JJ Grasso finished an impressive fourth with Kevin Nouse in the Elmer Stoltzfus #00 finishing a solid fifth. Making up the top ten were Randy West, Kevin Darling, Kyle Purks, Justin Collett and Robbie Stillwaggon.
FEATURE FINISH: Trevor Lewis, Davey Sammons, Curt Michael, JJ Grasso, Kevin Nouse, Randy West, Kevin Darling, Kyle Purks, Justin Collett, Robbie Stillwaggon, Josh Weller, Kramer Wiliamson, Kenny Meisner, Eddie Wagner, Rory Janney, Tim Iulg, Kevin Welsh, Jimmy Stitzel, Scott Pursell, Nick Schlauch Jr., Jonathan Swanson, Chris Coyle, Art Liedl, Mike Kostic.

The time has come the debut for what should be the most exciting weekly sprint car series in America. Cars and drivers from the local ranks and adjoining states have show interest in taking home the winners share of the high dollar point fund.

I got to give credit to the crew. They gave me a great race car." Godown was celebrating his victory in the 40-lap NASCAR Whelen All American Series 358 Modified feature that had earned him $4,000 and giving great praise to the crew of the Norm Hansell owned Norm’s Save Station #357 in victory lane.
