Is there ever gonna be a smooth track ? I know there has been alot of rain but come on track conditions are terrible and someones gonna get hurt by all the ruts in the track. At least when Walt had it the track was smooth but you did go thru tires every week. So i guess its either tear up the suspension and maybe flip on the ruts or burn off tires every other week. Hmmm tough one. I guess if your a parent and see your kid out there racing and flip you would probably rather replace tires!!!!

The track conditions are ridicules. I'm so glad you wrote this because I now know I made the write decision on NOT attending Middleford this season last year was a joke ...And if you ran the wright tires when was had it and your kid new better than to buzz them all the way down the straight they lasted several weeks .....

Well another wonderful track they have given the racers. Maybe they should get someone else to start grooming the track during the week and not starting everything at 4pm on race day.

Hey... Yeah the track was rutted up. Well look at all the rain we have had. What do you expect? Of course its gonna be soft. They cant stop it from raining. Better than dry and slick if you ask me. And at least were not breathing indust the whole time were watching. Everyones complaining about the holes and ruts...okay. Well if everyone knows where theyre at then try a new line. The bottoms of the corners are where the ruts and holes were. Just ride higher. I seen plenty cars ride high and do fine. Not hit a single hole and go right by the drivers on the low line that would rather hit the holes and complain then just go up and avoid them.

To Just Look: With all due respect to your post, RAIN OR NO RAIN, The track officials could have worked on the track "in between races" when they saw the ruts getting real bad. I know it would have taken longer, but it would be safer and easier on the driver and the cars. The biggest rut I saw was on the OUTSIDE going INTO turn ONE. It was about 6 feet wide by 6 feet long. IF you went around that, you would be in the bottom corner where you said the ruts were. My son's favorite line IS up high. Friday night it didn't matter where you were. You cant always "choose" your spot, when there are 5 or more other cars racing along side of you for first place. Its not easy to just go around the rut when you have someone beside you. Someone started this blog about the track conditions, I gave my opinion. I saw the ruts on the track and I had a pretty good view where I was standing. My son had a much better view on the track and did what he could to avoid flipping over. I want my son, as well as his racing friends, all to be safe on the track. It starts with the track owner/officials. They ask for clean races, no bumping, etc...they also need to do their part. KRISTY Derek Magee's Mom #96

Track conditions are something you have to adapt and race around. theres gonna be bumps and ruts at every dirt track you go to. its apart of our sport. its something you gotta adapt to and find a good line so you dont hit the ruts as bad. so far this year has been a racers track if you cant set your car up to get over the ruts you arnt gonna run as good. if you dont change your line and drive differetnly you arnt gonna do well. Just my opinion. the track should get better just give it some time

96 mom. I see your opinion. I understand you want your son to be safe. And they couldve done more to the track. But you cant just wave a wand and the track be drier. They couldve went out and packed it but within 10 laps of the next race it wouldve been rutted up again. Part of racing is figuring out you car each week. One week your cars not gonna be the same as the next. And the BIGGEST factor in that is the track. Having weeks like this past one make you a more experienced driver. If you ran on the same track every week how could you learn? Every week the track will be different. Sometimes its gonna be wet, sloppy, tacky, dry, slick, great or awful. Its not always gonna suit everyone week in and week out. But its part of racing. I watch your son race. Hes very good. I think hes smart enough to stay out of trouble. Hes the one out there on the track each week. He knows what to avoid and whats gonna give him trouble. Yeah the track may be dangerous some weeks... but in the end the control over the car is in the hands of whoever is holding the steering wheel.

turn 3 had those wop tee doos in the charger race too. I agree that you have to deal with track conditions, but turn 3 was really bad

I guess its been raining ever since Walt lost the track then . don't blame the rain thats a lame excuse Delmar is 1/2 mile they can get it good and they have much larger motors to deal with . However when it dose rain several days the track is a lost cause . but it has not rained that much since the racing season started. you cant work the track the day of the race! AND if the rain is the problem WHY are they putting water on it ? I agree you have to adapt to racing/track conditions .....but not adapt to racing on the LUNAR SURFACE !!!!!

THE TOP LAYER OF THE TRACK IS DRY SUCH AS THE FIRST COUPLE INCHES THE LOWER LEVELS STILL HAVE MOISTURE IN IT IS SOFT WHICH CAUSES THE ROUGHNESS U PUT WATER ON THE TOP IF U DIDNT U WOULD HAVE A DRY ROUGH TRACK SOME PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT RACING AT MIDDLEFORD SHOULD KEEP THERE MOUTH SHUT ABOUT THE TRACK WHY TALK ABOUT IT IF UR NOT EVEN RACING THERE

I always love the people who get on here an complain about the track, as if they know how to do it better. get out there and do it if you think you know so much more than they do. i can tell you this much, i have raced at alot of tracks thru out the east and its always anybodys guess on any given nite how that track is gonna be, including Delmar. if you are a true racecar driver then you deal with it and adapt to it. you DON'T complain on a public message board about one of the few tracks we have to run on.

dang its funny how ppl get on here as guest and dont make a account with there name or anything. i know the track was bad i said the track was bad and i been racing 10+ years and am able to adapt to rough, smooth, dry, and wet tracks but wen u got a jump goin into turn 3 yeh u cant really adapt to that except go around it like i did but then u have no way to pass anyone.

Bottom line is: The track was terrible. Does anyone care about safety anymore? True Driver: I don't know the first thing about making the track better, but somebody out there should, that's why I pay my entry fee week after week. I go to watch stock car races... NOT a demolition derby/tractor pull or swamp buggy race. I'm there to watch a race, not a wreck! My son adapts pretty well....bruises and all....I'm the one complaining because I don't want to see him or anyone else get hurt due to unsafe track conditions. It's never been as bad as it was Friday night and I believe everyone saw that. I just ask for a better track than what the racers got Friday night. Thats all......is it too much to ask for?

Amen to that. Thank god I can't afford the $40 it would cost me and my 4 year old daughter to get in there or I would probably be bahaing with the rest of you. Yes I do believe that you do have to adapt to track conditions but first you have to de given a track. Good luck to all this year and be safe. Mike Stratton

Track conditions are improving. This is hard work folks. I do think track officials are not putting the hours in to make this track what it needs and can be with time and effort.
It was great to have Buck announcing last week. Good call track officials on bringing him back. He is exciting and entertaining. I dont know if you know it or not but you are in the entertaining business if you want this track to stay open and be a success. He knows the drivers and their history. He is great at announcing. He keeps everyone engaged in what is going on out there on the track. Buck you are one of the key elements to this track being a success I heard there was a petition going around for everyone to sign to get Buck back. I havent seen it Does anyone know who has it or where I can find it? Many people want to sign it. See everyone this Friday.

Yea the reason the track was better this week was cause Paige worked on the track all week. I talked to him about it after the races after telling him its the best its been all year and he even said hes the one that worked on it all week and that tom was doing it the other times the day of the race. The track was smooth and fast i loved it if they keep it up they can get the car count back up thats the main reason its down cause everyone knows that the track has been really bad and rough and drivers don't want to tear their cars up. not to mention another thing they should change is the pay out i mean its really bad when second place gets five dollars LESS than what they paid to enter the race

Hey, thanks for the compliment on the announcing. I had a great time doing it for two nights. I also heard about the petition and I'm very humbled that everyone would want me back. Unfortunately, Pam and I are now moving to Arizona for another opportunity in our lives. I enjoyed all the fans and racers both when we had the track and when I was "just the announcer" Keep supporting the racing, it matters. If there is no support, then the track goes away, and this is a great little track! Good Luck to all and if you're ever in the Kingman AZ area, look me up. Thanks again folks...God Bless
