Don't let heresay keep you from coming out and watching the Little Lincoln's race,it's still one of the best classes to watch, and for me,to participate in,as far as mel's car goes,if it is illegal it won't be on the track,so if you see it racing that means its legal, and remember there is more to this "club" than just 1 or 2 people, if the man is willing to make necessary changes to meet the rules he should be allowed to race his car the same as anyone else,if not then he will have to sit out the race------same as anyone else.

If it is not legal keep it on the trailer, raise the fuel cell back where it belongs, put the trunk floor back where it belongs, and make the other changes that need to be corrected and let it run but like I said if the changes aren't made KEEP IT ON THE TRAILER!! I feel it should come to VOTE BY THE CLUB MEMBERS, as in te past other issues have been handled this way. But it will come down to members sticking together and adhering to the rule book. If the car is found to be within the rules let it run. Other drivers and car owners have made changes to compete within the rules there is no reason he shouldn't have to. If the car is illegal and allowed to run you can count on the class slowly going downhill, for the fact others may not be able to afford changes nesessecary to be competetive with a car 2 people felt was o.k. to run. I think and hope this ordeal will work out for the best and the "lincolns" will continue to put on a great show for the fans that come out and show their support.

The drivers will all have one vote so the way i see it the car will probally never see the track with the little lincolns. It is a nice vintage car but not a little linclon vintage. It dosen't comply with are rules. We will still have a good competive field of cars.Good luck to everyone see ya at the track.

First off, I applaud the moderator for taking the first hateful comment off that started this all. Obviously you do not know Mel well, if at all; otherwise you would definately know things differently. However, everyone is entitled to their opinions. No, his car is not from Nascar, nor has it ever been. It came from the same type of place everyone gets their Little Lincoln cars from - anywhere they can Yes, the car began with a 113in wheelbase, and is now 115 inches. More than 2 years ago at a club meeting, Mel approached the directors, which at the time DID NOT include Greg, with his plans for a new car; it was voted on, and his plans for the new car were approved. Obviously, he would not have spent all this time and hard work on a "different" kind of car without doing his research and knowing it would adhere to the club rules. After a recent inspection by the directors, corrections were made to the fuel cell area of the car to bring it into compliance with the rules. At that time, the car was considered legal and allowed to race. Part of the problem with this car is that it looks different than any other car in the club, and people just don't like change. What advantages or equipment does his car have that the others don't? - NONE. In fact, this car is probably heavier than most of the cars out there on the track. Everyone should hold their judgement until the car hits the track. I think it's a testament to Mel's success over the years in local racing for people to assume his car is going to do well enough that they want it off the track before its ever seen dirt. I think everyone on here and within the club need to step back, and watch, enjoy, and race the Little Lincolns in the spirit they were intended - as a Blast from the Past.

I don't really think the problem is that the car is different, I personally didn't hear any negative talk about Emorys' new ride, as for the success of Mel in the past after all he has been very competitive but not running away from the pack or winning every race. However I doubt there are many cars that have went out of state for modifications by a professional chassis person. (Which I understand his did) please correct me if I am wrong. I think we all would like to see a different looking car on the track. I personally like the idea of something different than the standard 55 chevy and other similar cars. But being around the club since the beginning with dad there had always been a few that push the envelope when it comes to the rule book. Any questionable cars have always been voted on the club and this should be no different. I don't think anyone is singling the car out because of its driver, everyone just wants legal cars to race against.

Thank you for being fair and pleasant!! the car came from a junkyard near Smyrna. It did spend time in Richmond, where someone started some of the body work, and the roll cage kit, from Stock Car Products, was bent there. No chassis modifications were performed. There was no rush to get the car back to Delaware. The person who started work on the car relocated to Delaware, and brought the car back here, where the rest of the tear down and reassembly was done. Any engine work was done by someone that several racers use. Regardless of what some may think, this IS NOT a high budget car, quite the opposite, but by not rushing the building on his car has allowed them to spend time on detail work. I don't think anyone associated with the team has an issue with a club vote, except for the fact that the directors gave permission to build the car, and have seen the finished product. Thank you for listening.

Excuse me, but if you had spent long hours building what you thought was right, wouldn't you fight it too? The changes WERE made..immediately. Yeah, one of the guys helping with the car USED to work for Nascar teams..long ago..Mel's nephew worked for a Nascar team, too..does that mean he shouldn't help, either? Have you seen the car? What is illegal? And Wade? His show is out there to support EVERYONE!! Yup, I am protective..Who am I? I am someone who has watched Mel for a very long time work twice as hard to prove himself..because of his name. I'm sorry some of you haven't had a few the awesome oppurtunities and contacts that he has had ..but that doesn't mean he hasn't worked his tail off accomplish what he has over the years. I just don't get you haters..give the guy a chance..he's always happy to help other people, and has certainly helped alot of you over the years..

Um, Lincoln fan..regardless of what you think f Mel, I don't think any of the others in the club would appreciate your insults against them..hillbillys? 3 or 4 teeth?..Come on. I'm sure everyone is a little proud to call themselves a redneck sometmes..but these guys pour their heart and souls and whatever money they can on these cars, and they are proud of them..you seem to feel they just throw something together out of scraps..you really should consider people's feelings before you speak..and try spell check..
