CHARGER DIVISION RULES
2013 SEASON
Competing Models
1. Any front wheel drive (FWD), 4 cylinder passenger car is permitted. Must have been available with front and rear seats. No 2-seat sport type cars allowed.
2. All components not listed in these rules must be factory Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
3. No 4-wheel drive vehicles, no 4-wheel steer vehicles permitted.
4. The Competition Director reserves the right to permit, or not permit any certain make of car for competition.
Engines and Transmissions
1. Only totally stock 4-cylinder engines permitted.
2. Automatic and manual transmissions allowed
3. Clutch and transmission and must remain stock and for make and model.
4. Cold-Air intake permitted
5. Both CV axles must be in place and operational in the transmission. Capping the CV axle on one side is not allowed.
Fuel Systems
1. Carburetor or Fuel Injection permitted.
2. Turbo-chargers and super-chargers will NOT be permitted. No nitrous of any kind permitted. If nitrous is found in the car an automatic suspension from racing for the entire season will occur for the driver and/or owner.
3. Fuel cell permitted. Maximum volume of 8-gallons allowed. Must be mounted inside a metal container and centered in the trunk area.
4. Fuel injected cars may use stock fuel tank.
5. Fuel line may not run through the driver’s compartment.
6. Fuel line must be an approved fuel line. It cannot be a hose that isn’t used specifically as a fuel line.
7. No pressurized fuel is allowed. If a driver is caught with pressurized fuel, there will be a one year ban placed on that car.
Weight
1. Minimum weight limit of 2,400 lbs with driver.
2. No added weight permitted once the car has met the weight requirement.
3. Weights of cars to be determined.
Exhaust System
1. All cars must have exhaust that exits the car behind the driver. No performance mufflers allowed, exhaust tubing must be stock OEM size.
2. Must remove Catalytic Converter.
3. No performance enhancing “traps” or exhaust parts will be permitted.
4. Header is permitted.
Bodies
1. Bodies must remain stock. Fenders may be cut for tire clearance.
2. Front wheel wells may be removed.
3. Headlights and parking lights must be removed. ALL GLASS must be removed. No Exceptions
4. All bumpers must remain stock. No re-enforced bumpers allowed. Recommended to add plates or attachments to help secure the plastic bumpers to the fenders.
5. Only stock firewalls in stock position will be allowed. No holes allowed in firewall.
6. Trunk area must remain stock.
7. Driver’s door may be hulled for door bar clearance.
8. An aftermarket tach, oil pressure gauge, and water temperature gauge may be added.
9. Air Bags must be removed.
10. Stock steering column only. An on/off switch may be added to the dash, must be within reach of the driver.
11. Removable steering wheel is permitted.
12. Steering quickener not permitted.
13. Cars must be neatly painted and lettered. No duct tape or spray painted letters or numbers. A one race grace period is allowed.
14. All doors must be fastened with the factory hinges in place and have at least one other bolt besides the rub rail to secure it to the car.
15. A chain or cable must be attached to the front and rear bumpers of the car so that it can be towed.
Suspension and Brakes
1. Only stock suspension parts allowed. Although you may run approved ( by class director) aftermarket coil springs.
2. You may alter any stock suspension part for handling purposes.
3. The entire brake system must remain stock. Car must have brakes on all four wheels, and must operate.
4. Maximum camber: 5 degrees. No rear wheel camber allowed.
5. Adjustable brakes are not allowed.
6. Only stock front and rear struts are allowed. No floating struts. After market coil springs are allowed.
Tires and Wheels
1. RF tire recommended to be changed to at least a 205-65-R13, 14, or 15 if possible.
2. Must run approved steel racing wheel on front. Rear optional
3. Absolutely no aluminum wheels.
4. It is suggested that 4 racing wheels, 4 manufactured steel wheels, or any combination of the two are used for safety.
5. Bead-lock wheels are allowed.
Electrical
1. Battery may not be located behind the rear axle. Battery cannot be installed lower than the floor pan.
2. If location of battery is changed it must be mounted to the floor pan with 3/8” threaded rod with a plate under the floor pan. An enclosed battery box is required. Marine boxes may be used as long as the hold down is located inside the box.
3. Battery may remain in stock location, but must have approved hold down device.
Roll Cage and Safety
1. A 6-point roll cage is required. Must use 1 ½” roll cage tubing OD, .060” thick and up. No pipe or tubing other than specified is allowed. No bars through the firewall. All cars must have approved roll bar padding on drivers side of car, above the drivers head and on sidebars. Roll cage must be welded or bolted on a steel plate to the floorboard.
2. All cars must have four (4) left side door bars.
3. All cars must have a 1” x 2” x .120 wall thickness rectangular tubing rub rail, bolted through the body, running the entire length between the front and rear wheel openings. Must be mounted flush against the body at the height center of tire and each end cut at an angle with no sharp edges.
4. It is highly suggested that a bar be added to the top of the roll cage above the driver, either horizontally or diagonally.
5. An approved 5-point racing harness is required. The date must remain on the harness and can be no older than three years since manufacture.
6. Approved aluminum, high back racing seat required. Seat must mount to an approved seat mount. No seat may be mounted to the floor pan.
7. Protective debris screen mandatory to be installed in place of the windshield. Must have at least 3 bars welded or bolted to car. May cover full windshield area. Only mandatory to cover the driver side half.
8. Working fire extinguisher required. Must be mounted secure and within the reach of the driver.
9. Driver must have a full fire suit, top and pants with an approved helmet. Fire retardant racing gloves are required. The helmet must be SNELL 2010 approved. It must be a full face helmet.
10. Age requirement is 14 and above, unless approved by Race Director.
11. ALL CAVALIERS AND SUNFIRES!!! We’ve had many problems in the past with rear wheels hubs breaking. To prevent injuries and accidents it will be mandatory to put a reinforced hub on LR AND RR wheel. Recommended to use a 89’-94’ Dodge Caravan hub.
Additional Rules
1. The top 3 cars will be weighed after each race.
2. Drivers that do not draw at the time of the race line up will start in the rear.
3. Cars will be randomly inspected throughout the year.
4. All cars must get a seal of approval to race.
5. Additional rules may be added throughout the year for safety purposes.
Claim Procedures
1. A Management (Competition Director) claim is in effect at all times. Claim will be $2500. Refusal of claim will result in the suspension of the driver, car owner and car for the remainder of the racing season.
