Hope so. Love that track! They need to start racing on that track consistently to keep it in decent shape. I love watching the SLM's fly round that track!

Glad to hear the track is not closing down but it was not long ago the local news did a story saying the track was being torn down for a hotel going in.Something must have changed really fast to change it.

That story was referring to the old horse track on Route 9

96racing is correct. That was a goof by the tv station. It is the old horse track on rt 9 being torn down. Not Georgetown Speedway.

Whatever they do, I hope they don't alternate the Big Blocks and late models like they did last time. If I were to go, I would want to see both of them. Not 2 crate classes and one of them.

The reason the modifieds and late models were alternated last time is because they were paying $2,500 to win and a decent purse through the top 5 or 10, and only charging $10 to get in. Charlie can do both classes because he pays the modifieds $1,750 to win and the late models an extremely low purse, and he gets a lot of back gate money. If Georgetown alternates they can pay a bigger purse for the feature class, probably get more cars from up the road, in both classes, and the local guys don't have to race twice a weekend, every weekend. If the locals had to choose they would probably race at Delmar like last time, because of the point fund or they just cant afford 2 nights a week. I would like to see both classes every week, but i honestly don't think they would get much support. An every other week basis would probably work better. I'm sure a lot of the decisions to be made will have the economy in mind, gas prices, etc. How much fans and drivers are going to be willing to spend. Its a good thing that this is happening early, so whoever is running the track, can have time to look at all options, factor everything in to their decision, and get the word out. I'm just glad that we are going to be seeing racing there again.
