Eastern Oval Series
2006/2007 Season Rules and Regulations
Introduction
The Eastern Oval Series (EOS) is a non-profit organization that has been formed to promote and organize scale oval track racing.
The intent and purpose of EOS is to construct and race 1/32 and 1/24 miniature replicas of cars that compete in various oval track divisions. Considerable efforts have been made to create classes that resemble their true-to-life counterparts. In some cases, however, compromises are necessary due to the limitations of currently available equipment.
The following people dedicate their personal time and energy to making EOS a successful program. If you have questions, or comments about how we may improve the EOS race program, they may be directed to the Series Director, or any Committee Members.

The Eastern Oval Series (EOS) sanctioned classes represent the most popular professional oval track divisions raced across the nation. The different divisions also encompass a wide variety of motor/chassis combinations, which will challenge both the “ready to run” and scratch builder alike.
Currently sanctioned classes for the 2000/2001 season include:
1/32 SCALE 1/24 SCALE
Legends 4” NASTRUCKS
Wingless Sprintcars 4” Busch Grand Nationals
Bears Outlaw Sprintcars 4” Dirt Late Models
Small Block Dirt Modifieds
Big Block Dirt Modifieds
General Series Rules
Competitors should make all reasonable efforts to duplicate realistic looking miniatures of actual oval track cars. EOS rules will specify general guidelines concerning car construction and in all cases EOS reserves the right to reject any car that does not adhere to the approved specifications of that car class, or reasonably resembles a full-size counterpart
All drivers must be EOS members during the races used to qualify for season end awards.
All EOS events will be conducted under the traditional slot racing format, utilizing heat racing and turn marshals to replace de-slotted cars.
All competitors are required to serve as corner marshals during classes they are racing in even if they are racing in that segment, or feature. Failure to marshal when assigned will result in a five (5) lap race penalty for the first warning and if warned a second time a possible disqualification. All cars will be impounded until marshalling duties have been fulfilled.
Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. Unsportsmanlike conduct is defined as any offensive language, aggressive behavior, or yelling at another racer, or corner marshal. Non-compliance with this rule will have the following results:
1st offense: a verbal warning
2nd offense: five (5) lap race penalty
3rd offense: Disqualification
Any competitor found to be willfully breaking the rules or racing an illegal car will forfeit all points, money and/or merchandise won during that race meet. Further suspension from EOS competition may also be imposed if the racer continues to violate this rule.
The Race Director may “black flag” any car he determines to be a hazard, or feels is incapable of continuing in a race. Any black-flagged car must be removed to the pit area and repaired before re-entering the race. No further laps will be scored once a car is black flagged until it is returned to the track in race ready condition.
The EOS technical committee must approve all rules changes. Any new products not listed in the 2000/2001 car specifications must be approved before being used in EOS competition.
Entrance fees and purse/merchandise awards will be determined and posted by EOS and the track promoter.
Race Procedures
The race format at each event will be determined by the total number of cars in competition, either an “All Main Event”, or “Round Robin” format. Qualifying, race format and other specifics will be determined by the Series Director. A drivers meeting will be held before each race meet to discuss formats and race procedures.
All cars must be inspected and pass tech prior the race. Cars may also be inspected at any time during the race. EOS at its sole discretion reserves the right to tear down and inspect any car entered in competition. The Series Director, or Tech Director reserves the right to allow, or disallow any body, chassis, motor, or part that in his discretion does not meet the specifications as noted in the Rules.
A driver can request to have a competitor’s car torn down under the following guidelines:
a. The driver must have a car entered in the same division as the protested car.
b. The protesting driver must post a $20.00 protest fee before the beginning of the race the protested car is entered in.
c. ONLY the protesting driver, the driver of the protested car and EOS Tech Officials are permitted in the tear down area.
d. If the protested car is found to be legal, the $20.00 fee will be forfeited to the protested driver. If the car is found illegal, the fee will be returned to the protesting driver.
In all cases, the Series Director’s decisions are final!
No adjustments will be made to lap totals. The lap counter is official!
No glue may be placed directly on the track surface. Glue may be used on the tires only. Spray glue may be used at the discretion of the Race Director, or Promoter.
All drivers must use lane change cards to mark their cars prior to taking them from the track between heats. Failure to use a lane change card when removing a car from the track between heats will result in the car being placed at the front of the lap counter for the start of the next heat.
All “riders” (cars jumping into other lanes) will be considered “track” calls. Racers may call out “rider” to alert the Race Director to shut off the power so their car may be returned to their lane.
“Track” calls are not allowed to be called by the drivers. All “track calls” will be made by the corner marshals, or Race Director. Normally, a “track” call will be made by the corner marshals, or Race Director if three, or more cars are in a corner with only one marshal, or if a car is on the floor. If a racer calls “track”, he will be penalized as follows:
First offense: Verbal warning
Second offense: 5 lap penalty
Third plus offense: 10 lap penalty
Repairs to cars may not be made to cars during “track” calls. All repairs must be made during green flag conditions, or during heat intermissions. Any replaced parts must meet the original tech specifications.
EOS points will be awarded as follows:
1. 50 7. 44 13. 38 19. 32
2. 49 8. 43 14. 37 20. 31
